Willkaraqay was a fort on the Inca trail to guard it from enemies. Today is was home to horses that would peer at you around corners.
The walls are all rough fieldstone in mortar construction.
Nearby was a path to a hill for making sacrifices.
The middle of the flattened hill still has an altar.
The fort is in pretty good condition.

How’s the trip going so far? Have worn out a pair of walking shoes yet? Looks like you both are doing alot of walking. We really like looking at all your pictures. Travel save
It’s going great. The shoes and sandals are doing fine, but we bought really heavy duty pairs to start with. Sunglasses are the only things really not doing well…today I’ll be shopping for my 3rd pair and Matt for his 2nd because both are being held together with duct tape at the moment. Matt had to buy a belt because his pants don’t fit after all of the walking. But other than that everything is holding up OK.
