There were some lizards around the Pantanal too.

They were also hard to spot.

Even the big ones.

But none of them were really that big.

Tapirs like to swim.

They don’t swim with just their eyes and nose out of the water like everything else in the Pantanal.

They either have most of their head out

Which isn’t very good for hiding.

Or they drop down

And disappear all the way under water.

Tapirs are kind of like horses and have a mane.

But they look more like elephants

With their bare skin

And noses that move around and grab things like a little trunk.

Some white lipped peccaries crossed the road in front of us.

Kerri failed to get the camera to focus correctly through the dirty windshield.

But there were babies.

So you have to see all of the blurry pictures anyway.

If you ever want to get to the jaguars Matt might have to take over.

Marsh deer are deer.

They have black legs.

They are very skittish.

So most of our pictures look like this.

Goodbye Mrs Marsh Deer.
