And they’re not nocturnal so they’re more likely to be out during the day.
But they like trash just like racoons
I assume the trash cans in Campo Grande are elevated to keep them out
But it sure doesn’t work very well
Trouble makers
The Avenue of the Macaws is a street in Campo Grande with a bunch of dead palm trees.
Macaws like dead palm trees.
Because they can fill them up with dead grass
To make a nest
To make baby Macaws
They use their beaks to climb out of their nests.
The Macaws also like the streetlights.
Most of the macaws are green
But there are also some blue and yellow ones.
There weren’t as many of those on the palm trees
But there were some in the other trees nearby
Hanging out
This is a sinkhole.
Birds like it
It’s good for animals that fly
And like to hang out on cliffs
It’s great for nests.
There is a single caiman that somehow wound up in the sinkhole and can’t get out. He’s probably lonely.
This is why you shake out hammocks before sitting in them.
The snake slithered right up into it.
And really wound himself in there
He didn’t want to come out.
Eventually he stuck his head out
And lowered himself
Onto the ground
This is a sleeping potoo. They wake up at night.
This is a Jacana
The females are somehow even weirder looking, even though they are not as bright.
This is a vermillion flycatcher.
This is a sunbittern
This is a chachalacka. Boom.
These are southern screamers.
This is a chestnut bellied guan
This is a purplish jay.
The person who named it was obviously straining to see some colour other than grey or brown.
This bird is just black
