  • Nightmare Taxidermy

The taxidermy at the Campo Grande aquarium made us want to cover our eyes.

    image

So we’re sharing it with you.

    image

    It may give you nightmares.

    image

Can’t even tell which direction this one is looking.

    image

Everything is pulled so taught and animals aren’t that skinny.

    image

I’m not sure what this one is looking for.

    image

    Hopefully not a toucan

    image

I bet you don’t even know what this one is

    image

At least the anteaters are identifiable.

  • Private Park

They opened up this park just for us.

    image

It had a bird that looks like a robin but isn’t.

    image

    And lots of tegus

    image

This one has a false eye

    image

The bigger ones were sunning on the path

    image

They hid under the fence when we got close

    image

    But didn’t seem too worried

    image

    They wandered away slowly

    image

    Sniffing

    image
When they got tired of Kerri and her camera

    image

    This is an armadillo

    image

The coati’s were not as bold here

    image

These palm trees aren’t as good for shade

    image

    And the bugs are weird.

  • Campo Grande Aquarium

We took a picture of the rib fish we were always eating at the aquarium.

    image

But we can’t remember which one it is.

    image

This fish keeps its babies in its mouth.

    image

    This is a catfish.

    image

There were a lot of fish.

    image

Some of them we saw snorkelling.

    image

    Some we did not.

    image

    Some are from different rivers.

    image

    This one has orange eyes.

    image

This is what snorkelling with caiman would have looked like if the water was clearer.

  • Bat Falcon

    This is a bat falcon.

    image

He is standing on a bridge.

    image

But he’s still flapping his wings in the wind.

    image

    Which looks really funny.

    image

    Maybe they were wet.

    image

Or maybe he’s just a silly little falcon.

    image

    Sorry.

    image

He’s not a silly little falcon.

    image

    He’s a fierce predator.

    image

Ready for any prey that the wind blows into him.

  • Coati

Coati are kind of like racoons

    image

    But longer

    image

And they’re not nocturnal so they’re more likely to be out during the day.

    image

But they like trash just like racoons

    image

I assume the trash cans in Campo Grande are elevated to keep them out

    image

But it sure doesn’t work very well

    image

    Trouble makers
