    We’re in the Pantanal!

    image

The pool is not as nice here.

    image

But that’s OK, because we’re here for some serious wildlife viewing.

    image

The Pantanal is the wetlands area that covers part of Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.

    image

A lot of it is used for ranch land.

    image

So it looks a lot like Alberta.

    image

But the cows are a bit funny looking.

    image

And there are a lot of termite mounds.

    image

There’s also some other wildlife that we’ll see in a few days just not while walking around.

  • Lagertixa Enorme

The wildlife hunting started before we even left for the Pantanal.

    image

    Do you see him?

    image

    He’s right there.

    image

He was under our sunbed at the pool.

    image

A local man came up to Kerri and said “lagertixa enorme” and pointed under our sunbed.

    image

Kerri understood that perfectly, because she speaks Spanish, and it sounds just like “lagertija”.

    image

So she went poking around under the sunbed trying to get a picture. See him?

    image

    There he is!

    image

Then a staff member came to ask what she was doing, and she said “lagertija”!

    image

And the staff member said “no English”.

    image

So apparently Kerri can only listen to Portuguese.

    image

Do you think she can actually speak Spanish?

    image

Kerri then said “animale enorme”, and the staff member looked alarmed.

    image

He was only actually big compared to the other lizards at the pool, which were all too fast to get pictures of.

    image

Kerri is not going to try to speak any more Portuguese.
