  • Eighth Day of Christmas Dinner

On the eighth day of Christmas dinner my true love got sick

So I had to reheat my own turkey chunks.

    I really miss microwaves.

    image

Then it was time to go see the fireworks.

    image

Except in Croatia the fireworks started as soon as it got dark at around 6.

    image

Because in Croatia everyone can by fireworks and set them off in the middle of the city.

    image

Mostly, but not all, over the water.

    image

Some of them were pretty big.

    image

They were numerous and still going on now, at quarter to 2.

    image

It made taking pictures a bit tricky because things were going on all over the place.

    image

So many different types of fireworks were shot off.

    image

That isn’t even including all of the emergency flares that were cracked at midnight or fired into the air.

    image

When midnight finally came around there was so much smoke already in the air that the red flares made the castle look like a fort under siege by Disney pirates.image

We were glad to be upwind all the of the excitement.

    image

At this point we figured out where the city’s fireworks were being launched from.

    image

No it wasn’t to the left, it was over on the right at the edge of the harbour.

    image

    After a few adjustments

    image

The show was lined up for getting some cool pictures.

    image

Okay so some more adjustments were necessary.

    image

There were so many going off all around and above.

    image

It was quite the show and very different from back home.

    image

To end the night we celebrated with a cookie. This led to the gingerbread snowmen massacre of 2015. Only partial heads remain for 2016.

  • Seventh Day of Christmas Dinner

On the seventh day of Christmas dinner my true love told me

We aren’t going to make it 12 days.

    We’re running out of turkey!

    image

    And gravy!

    image

We had to boil more potatoes

    image

    And bake more stuffing

    image

    And tripped the circuit breaker

    image

And call for help because we couldn’t find it hiding behind this picture on the wall.

    image

That’s why dinner was late and crunchy

    image

And the snowmen took another big hit while we were waiting.

  • Sixth Day of Christmas Dinner

On the 6th Day of Christmas Dinner my true love made for me

    Another batch of yummy strudel.

    image

Kerri forgot the soup stock in the freezer overnight, so we won’t be eating soup for a few days.

    image

Kerri went for a walk through the palace.

    image

This is the front entrance to the palace.

    image

These are either really tiny people or a really big lion.

    image

The arch doesn’t line up right with the tower.

    image

Gregory of Nin must have a lucky toe.

    image

This is the view Diocletian would have had over the bay, except that the bay went right up to the palace wall, the window wasn’t barred and there were no palm trees. The sun totally existed back then though.

    image

Only the snowman heads are surviving, which might have something to do with the carrot noses.
