There are lots of kingfishers in the Pantanal
This is a girl Amazon Kingfisher
And this is a boy with a red tummy.
These big blue ones are Ringed Kingfishers
They are very noisy.
And spent a lot of time staring at us
While we were staring at jaguars
I think this is a Green Kingfisher
The Amazon Kingfishers are also green but they have the tuft at the back of their head and their beaks are longer.
It’s definitely greener than the Ringed Kingfisher
But they all seem to have the ring around the neck so it’s a bit confusing.
This is a Green-and-Rufus Kingfisher. It’s the sleekest looking bird with the shaggiest sounding name.
