We finally got our map done! It is a bit wrinkled but it looks pretty good.
Here is a close up of Europe:
And Africa:
In the beaver lodge, all snuggled up, were one big male beaver, one smaller female beaver, and one turtle.
The orangutan had a bright blue comb.
It used it to groom himself.
The Indian Rhinoceros had a brand new itty bitty baby!
He barely even had a bump where his horn will be!
In the Canadian area is giant and hardly has any animals. But they do have a raccoon. Because no one in Toronto has seen one of them before. I think the purpose of the cage is mostly to keep all of the other racoons out.
The grizzly bears were not impressed.
At the end of a very long walk you finally get down to their last exhibit, Canadian meese!
Way back at the far end of the giant enclosure after a 10 minute walk, they have two female mooses. They don’t even have a proper moose with big moose horns.
The fly river turtle has a funny pig nose.
This snake is green.
This snake is greener.
This fish is blind.
This peacock is showing off.
Don’t worry, he’s not sticking his tongue out at you. That’s just a mouth pouch he uses to attract the lady camels.
This leopard is bouncy.
WARNING: Don’t read this if you don’t want to see a komodo dragon eating a small furry animal. (Duh)
At the Toronto Zoo we saw the happiest komodo dragon we have ever seen.
But he wasn’t happy because he was just basking in the sun on a beautiful day.
No, komodo dragons are evil killing machines.
With forked tongues, like all evil things.
And he was stalking his prey.
Slowly but steadily.
It took him quite a while given that his prey was already dead.
But eventually he found it.
He had trouble picking it up at first.
He couldn’t seem to get a grip on it.
But finally he got it the right way around.
And then swallowed it in a couple of gulps.
He swallowed it whole, without chewing.
Then he licked his lips.
And smiled. He looks so innocent if you ignore the little bit of blood on his lips.
We didn’t get to see the baby polar bear at the Toronto Zoo because he was sick. But we did get to see the adults.
Polar bears look funny lounging in the dandelions.
He had to take a bath to cool off.
He was dripping wet.
In a very non-arctic swimming pool.
Then he had to shake.
He did lots of shaking before immediately getting back into the water.
The artic wolf was also having some problems with camouflage.
And so were these geese.
We went to the Toronto Zoo today to see the baby pandas!
They were super cute.
And playful.
Dad was snoozing in the sun.
And Mom was eating.
So no one was watching the little guys.
So she went exploring.
She’s not going to fit through there.
Her head is too big.
Kerri was distressed.
But she made it.
It was exhausting work.
