Why Did the Cougar Cross the Road?

The cougar had a stretch

image

A big stretch

image

And a yawn

image

And walked up

image

Over the hill

image

But then an hour later we saw another cougar

image

Or possibly the same cougar, we can’t tell them apart.

image

She also went up the hill

image

But then she walked along the top for a bit.

image

Then came back down

image

Slinkily

image

To cross the road

image

Not caring who might be in her way

image

Even though she was a lot smaller than the cars.

image

She got to the other side.

image

And looked  around

image

In all directions

image

And went up and over that hill.

  1. Wow. My understanding of cougars was that they were extremely stealthy and wary of humans – I feel lucky to have ever seen one in the wild, from a distance. To have one casually cross the road right through a whole crowd of people is very surprising.

Yeah the Patagonia ones are the same species but their behavior is quite different. There’s generally more prey and less competition, but it’s also all short shrubs so it’s harder for them to hide.
