The cougar had a stretch

A big stretch

And a yawn

And walked up

Over the hill

But then an hour later we saw another cougar

Or possibly the same cougar, we can’t tell them apart.

She also went up the hill

But then she walked along the top for a bit.

Then came back down

Slinkily

To cross the road

Not caring who might be in her way

Even though she was a lot smaller than the cars.

She got to the other side.

And looked around

In all directions

And went up and over that hill.

Wow. My understanding of cougars was that they were extremely stealthy and wary of humans – I feel lucky to have ever seen one in the wild, from a distance. To have one casually cross the road right through a whole crowd of people is very surprising.
Yeah the Patagonia ones are the same species but their behavior is quite different. There’s generally more prey and less competition, but it’s also all short shrubs so it’s harder for them to hide.
