We set off along a path described by Lonely Planet as “wheelchair accessible” to see a big tree.
The big tree is a rakau rangatira which is over 1000 years old. It is 31m tall and 8.4m wide.
The roots are huge and go very far from the tree even above ground.
There was no one else around so we gave it a hug so it wouldn’t be so lonely.
