There were lots of termite trails at the Museum of the Amazon

And tons of dragonflies

Not all of them were pretty pink

Some were just brown

There were spiders in the spider house

Some of them were small

But most were big

Especially their legs

Their furry furry legs

Back to the wild bugs

The grasshopper was pretty

But not as pretty as the pink dragonflies.

These are big lilypads.

They are Matt-sized.

They make pretty pink flowers.

They looked pretty comfortable.

But they don’t even keep the turtles dry.

I guess turtles must be heavy.

Especially when they’re stacked.

Lilypads probably prefer one turtle at a time.

So would the bottom turtle.

The museum of the Amazon is mostly outdoors.

The highlight is this big tower that takes you way up above the canopy

But it really doesn’t look like much in pictures because you can’t see how far down it goes because the giant trees are in the way.

Agouti are harder to spot in the jungle.

There were some different spikey trees.

Some of the spikes were naked

And had broken tips.

These are cicada chimneys.

They also had some enclosed areas, like this orchid house. But it wasn’t orchid season.

There was a teeny tiny pineapple.

They also had a snake house

And a spider house, but we’ll put those in the creepy crawly post.
