The Adventures of Kerri & Matt

This is an egret.

I assume.

We still have no internet, so I can’t check

It looks heron like

Most birds that look heron like and are white are egrets

But they usually have the yellow beaks

But this one has a dark beak, and some darker feathers

It is hard to tell

Even this egret has a dark spot on his beak.

Kerri is scratching her head

It is easy to become confused

About birds with long necks and long legs

It looks like he could tie his neck in a knot.

The ones with the yellow beaks have dark legs

So the one with the dark beak just has his colouring upside down.

There were a lot of penguins in Caye Caulker

Some of them seemed to be fishing for sting rays

Which would not have fit in the pelican’s mouth

Even though they have really big mouths.

Silly pelicans.

Kerri took a lot of pictures of pelicans

Not all of them were good

But this is still going to be a long one.

Even though there were no babies

Do you think baby pelicans are cute?

Most baby birds aren’t very cute.

Pelicans have weird eyes

Those would be weird eyes on a baby

And the giant beaks would be weird too

We’re on an airplane right now

So I can’t google it

So I’m just going to assume that baby pelicans are cute

But we didn’t see any in Caye Caulker

So I don’t really know

There were iguanas in Caye Caulker

And teeny little lizards

Lizards of all sizes

There were little herons

And big fish

And lots of sting rays

They fed the sting rays

So there are swarms of them close to shore

The sea gulls were funny looking

The cormorants were cormorant looking

The birds were birdy

And the sun set at sunset.

We went to Cay Caulker

This isn’t Caye Caulker, this is the other end of the ferry ride

But the buildings are pretty

And there aren’t enough pictures for a separate post

There are no cars on Caye Caulker, so the taxis are golf carts

We took a cooking class.

He grated coconut

And cooked

Kerri just ate.

There were a lot of Christmas decorations

Matt drove Santa’s sleigh

It was presumably empty because the Grinch had been here

I wonder what he did with Santa.
