Due to some technical difficulties and a very slow internet connection, we wonβt be able to post our pictures until the next time we get internet. But here are some videos of our SCUBA trip that the divemaster took.
Sharks with us at the end:
Lots of sharks.
Spotted eagle rays over an eel garden. The things sticking up out of the ground that pull back into their burrows when the rays pass are the little eels.
Rays swimming through a cloud of fish.
Sharks and big fish over a pile of rocks.
More sharks. And us at the end. In the back. Matt is apparently bored by the sharks and examining rocks.
Did I mention we saw some sharks?

Thanks for the video links guys. Wish I were there. What is the water temperature like. I saw one diver with bare arms and legs and quite a few fish I would consider tropical. But no corals suggesting, as I had thought, the water would be temperate rather than tropical. The eels in the garden are appropriately named garden eels.
The water during those dives ranged from 22 to 26C. However when we went snorkeling in the west we had temperatures of 18 on the surface. There are some thermoclines there so the temperature can fluctuate very rapidly. We had 7,6,5 mm suits and and hood and were fine. The islands varied quite a bit with the species as we will be posting in the next few days.
Incredible! I can’t wait to go diving again π You’ve re-motivated me to get this bloody paper written. There’s a little puffer in the 5th video! I’ve found them playful, almost like cats. Matt, I’m with you – I’m fascinated by the little invertebrates…. Kerri – how are you doing with all the fish?? I love the google map image. Very helpful π It must be such a healthy system if it can support so many sharks. Glad you guys are having so many wonderful experiences π
There were so many puffers but the really playful animals are still to come. Kerri was fine with the fish as these ones won’t swarm or nibble you. The birds do that. It was a great cruise and I highly recommend the islands we did. Posts will be incoming as fast as we can choose pictures and write. The altitude change is going to slow me down for at least a day or so, so we will hang out at the hostel.
