Waking up early meant that we got a beautiful view of the mountains.
The glaciers were amazing and a great way to start the day.
This is looking back at our campsite. The blue and green tents on the right are ours.
A lot of today was on Incan paths precariously built into the sides of the mountains.
We had to pass through a tunnel they built. Inside was quite steep and dark and narrow and downhill.
But we made it out the other side.
There was a very big bug.
And more great views of the mountains.
The stones in the path were very uneven and irregular.
The Incans didn’t use wheels for anything, and the only pack animals they had were llamas.
After a while we reached a nice viewpoint.
With more views of the mountains.
We enjoyed the view.
We enjoyed the view a lot.
The plants were still wet from the rain the night before.
Especially once we got back down into the cloud forest.
There were many orchids in the cloud forest.
This was the last checkpoint in the trail.
Some of the orchids were very floofy.
Then we got to Matt’s favourite part of the trail, the gringo killer.
It is an almost vertical rockwall of Incan stairs.
Then we got our first glimpse of Macchu Pichu.
