On the US side there were more tractors on the road.
Then we drove down the most boring highway in Michigan.
We didn’t have to drive the most boring highway in Michigan.
The other route was 8 minutes shorter according to Google.
But this route went through a National Park and wetlands and seemed likely to be much more scenic on paper.
It wasn’t.
Kerri made a turtle laugh so hard it spit salt water out of its nose.
Or maybe he was just allergic to Kerri.
He was in the lava browsing for weeds.
The water kept hitting him hard.
It didn’t look like fun.
Here is a closer look at the turtle.
It would be easier to identify if it wasn’t underwater.
This isn’t much better.
But he spent a lot of the time with his head in the water.
There is his head.
There is his bum.
He’s keeping an eye on you.
And he’s a turtle.
Still keeping an eye on you underwater.
Matt was being contemplative.
Then he went for a swim.
But he didn’t like the water.
There was another turtle on the beach.
Kerri took way too many pictures of him too.
She even got closeups of his armpits.
The turtle finally got tired and went back into the water.
The water wasn’t very nice to him either.
But he made it.

If you don’t know what Central Park is, you live in a cave.
I don’t think we have any friends that live in holes.
Go away weird hole-dwellers!
There is a surprising amount of water in Central Park.
There is also wildlife.
Some of it is in the water.
The squirrels are big and ugly like Torontonian squirrels.
This is a folly. Which means something an architect decided needed to be built for no reason.
This is a picture Kerri decided to take for no reason.
She is good at that.
We did not go rowing.
This time Matt decided to have his pizza deep fried.
He thought it was good.
Kerri stuck with the normal pizza.
New York had a lot of buildings.
Many of them were weird.
And art. This is a giant steel balloon flower. Kerri thought that was obvious, but Matt didn’t believe her.
This is also art. Having a bunch of plastic chairs in a park would normally be very nice and comfortable. But it was art, so they were behind a fence.
This is both a building and art.
The 9/11 memorial is less tacky than it sounds in the tour books. Plus the rushing water drowns out the sound of all the tour guides.
We took the Staten Island Ferry out to Staten Island.
There isn’t anything on Staten Island, we just wanted to see the Statue of Liberty.
She is big.
We took a selfie.
Then we saw a smaller one.
This is Brooklyn. The shiny buildings make it look like it’s on fire.
