Give us a break a volcano kept us up all night!

Fuego is a volcano that’s almost always having little eruptions.

Next to it is Acatenango

From Acatenango there are good views of Fuego.

We have finally learned our lesson regarding hiking so we took a 4×4 up.

So we only had to walk through the clouds for 45 minutes.

Fuego is very noisy.

Sometimes it makes loud booms like fireworks followed by thuds as the big rocks settle.

Other times it just rumbles like thunder.

There are nice views of the sleepy volcano too, but that’s less exciting.

There is a lot of ash blowing around up here, but only because it is cold.

The ash from the volcano blows the other way.

We will be spending the night up here so we can see the volcano in the dark.

We have a luxury tent for 9 people.

Look at the puppies.

How could Kerri possibly be expected to pay attention to a pottery demonstration?
Obviously that was Matt’s job
Look at the little tongue
And those eyes

They were fighting over a stick
It wasn’t a very big stick
But they like to fight
They are furocious.

Except when they are asleep

Or pouting
They were very cute.
We went to a pottery making demonstration.

I suppose you’re probably wondering where the pottery is.

Don’t worry, it’s not all puppies.

There were also chicks.

Do you really think Kerri took pictures of pottery making?

Hah! You were wrong! This is some ground clay.

Nearby the puppies.

The ground clay was mixed with water to make wet clay

OK fine, I’ll make a separate all puppies post.

She took the lump of clay and put it between her feet and walked round and round in circles

Which cannot be good for her back.

And then she smoothed it out.

No, wait, like this.

Then she added more clay for some reason. Kerri was distracted by the puppies and Matt doesn’t remember.

Then she smoothed it out with this rod thing.

To get this

Then there was more polishing and smoothing.

And it was put on sticks to be set on fire

And covered with more flammable stuff.

A lot of buildings in Antigua were this awful yellow colour

This lamb is a poo-poo head

This fountain is interesting

It is facing the church

Of course, almost everything in Antigua seems to be facing a church

Or a ruined monastery.

Only part of this is another ugly yellow church. The other part is an ugly yellow hospital.

Look! Another church!

It had a weird crest

Churches have insides too

This one has Mayan gobliney things on the inside

And owls

These pretty flowers were on the walk back from the volcano

To the 4×4. We were too lazy to walk down.
