  • Sea Foam

One of the breaks along the great ocean road took us down a series of steps to get to a beach. The waves were crashing pretty hard.

    image

This trapped all the foam close to the shore.

    image

Sometimes it came up on shore and would stay behind. With the wind blowing it would then fly across the beach.

We almost got covered when a larger than normal wave came up the beach but we managed to run away and only get shoes mildly wet.

  • Petting a Dingo

Along the great ocean road we stopped at a wildlife park. They said the dingos are very friendly. At first we just pet them through the cage.

    image

They were very friendly and inquisitive.

    image

Then we got to go into the pen. They really wanted to say hi.

    image

These two are just little puppies at a year old.

    image

They were vey friendly and soft.

    image

They said hi to Matt too.

    image

But Kerri was giving them far more attention.

    image

Lots of behind the ear scratches.

    image

    Only a couple kisses.

    image

    But lots of hugs.

  • Petting an Emu

    Emus are big.

    image

    And funny looking.

    image

    With big shark beaks.

    image

    And big sharp claws.

    image

Which is why it is not generally recommended to pet them.

    image

But Fluffy Head has been raised in captivity since he was a baby. So he tolerates being petted by tourists.

At least that’s what the owners of the petting zoo said.

That was before we noticed they also had a stag tucked into their petting zoo and started to question their judgment.

  • Petting Kangaroos & Wallabies

Along the great ocean road there was another animal sanctuary that we stopped at. There were more kangaroos.

    image

And wallabies. Some were more inquisitive.

    image

Almost had to clean the camera after this guy finished investigating.

    image

It is good that these ones are fairly tame as those claws could do a good amount of damage.

    image

But Kerri snuck up on him by pretending to be a fellow wallaby.

    image

One wallaby decided she was worth a sniff.

    image

The kangaroos seemed a bit confused as to what this human was doing.

    image

They still liked a good scratch though.
