We agreed between ourselves that Australia is weird. There are colourful or odd looking birds everywhere like this Rainbow lorikeet.

They also have very elaborate water fountains.

And I previously mentioned, odd looking birds.

The ibis birds were hunting for insects all over the park.

    image

Sometime they would come over to investigate us as well.

    image

Or just take a bath in the water puddles.

Even with all the rain it still seemed to want a good clean.

We were a bit surprised to find cacti in the gardens with all the rain that Sydney gets.

The gardens were started a long time ago so the Eucalyptus grandis have gotten really big.

Wollemi pine is one of the world’s rarest plants. They were once only known as fossils and thought to be extinct but some extremely inbred specimens were found isolated in an isolated Australian canyon in 1994.

Their needles are soft and flat.

  • Sydney Flying Things

Sydney had lots of fruit bats.

    image

They were way up above us in the trees.

    image

    Their eyes reflected creepily.

    image

    The cockatoos were less creepy.

    image

The noisy minors were creepy but in a different way.

    image

You did not want to get on their bad side.

The rainbow lorikeets were Kerri’s favourite.
