Copan is a small town that exists only for the ruins
It is surrounded by mountains
And jungle
And that’s pretty much it.
It has a museum
Which has artifacts from the ruins
Including flint eccentrics, which are weird carved things no one knows the reason for.
And some pretty elaborate god statues
Thaloc still has his goggles
This beast has a head in his lap.
They also carved precious stones
And pottery
Some of it still had colour.
Those are some exquisite pieces. I could imagine the flint eccentrics being prized just because they’re very hard to make, like a Faberge egg. The hanging part of the turban (?) on the statue that still has color seems very natural. The whole piece seems kind of stylized but also very human, like a Ghibli cartoon.
