There were big leaves in the jungle around Palenque

There was also the old aquaduct

Which our guide convinced Matt to walk down into

It was dark

And full of bats

Lots of bats

He came back out through that little triangle without even getting his shoes wet

This is an artificial Mayan pool

The guide insisted on pouring water over Kerri’s head for some reason

There was lots of fungi in the jungle

Some were spikey

Some were not

There were lots of ruins

The guide painted Matt’s face in a way that may or may not actually be traditional.
