Capybara

Capybara are big swimming rodents.

image

Like everything else in the Pantanal, they are used as a bird perch.

image

Even when they are on the move.

image

They don’t seem to care much about this.

They don’t seem to care much about anything.

image

Except when they’re yawning, then they look angry.

image

The female capybaras don’t have the ugly blob on their noses.

image

But the male capybaras do.

image

It helps them mark their territory.

image

Must be smelly for the birds.

One Response to Capybara

  1. I noticed a blob on a capybara’s nose in another post, but figured it was either a wart, or it had its front foot on its nose from a funny angle. Now I feel kind of sorry for the male capybaras.
