The Adventures of Kerri & Matt

Disney has a special parade just for Halloween. And the month leading up to it. Actually it doesn’t mention Halloween at all and the song is all about celebrating the harvest. But they call it a Halloween parade.

These are the girls who got to say

“Guess what Mom! I get to be in the Disney Parade!”

“What character are you?”

“A stock of wheat!”

Even Huey is ashamed.

But if they do a really good job, maybe next year they will get to be fallen leaves.

Or mushrooms. You can tell mushroom is a promotion because they actually get to stand on their own feet. The leaves stand on giant  roombas preprogrammed to the choreography so they only have to learn the arm motions.

Scrooge took some time away from swimming in gold to hang out with his nephews and the dancing wheat. 

Tigger was there apparently cleaning up the leaves instead of just bouncing around and making rabbit clean up.

By this point we had heard the song three times. It was getting a bit old.

Not sure what Mickey is dressed up as. Doesn’t even seem harvest or Halloween related.

Finally Chip, Dale, and a female chipmunk (no idea what her name was) finished up the parade and we could escape the endless harvest song. They could really have two songs and loop that instead.

Because it was the end of October Disneyland was all decorated for Halloween.

There were plastic pumpkins moulded into character’s faces all over the place.

Goofy was dressed up as a mad scientist.

He had a candy factory to make candies to hand out on Halloween.

There were ghosts in the main square but they were the excessively friendly type.

In Adventureland the decorations were allowed to be a bit scarier.

At night they were super creepy.

Behind the castle an evil thornbush was growing

Where the villains all get together to sing and dance.

In a couple spots they just tossed a bunch of sunflowers and pumpkin lanterns around.

By October 30th they had emptied all of the Halloween stuff out of the gift stores and were decorating for Christmas.

Hollywood Studios in Paris has a bunch of rides not at the American Parks. Like Crush’s Roller Coaster.

The seagull on the left says “Mine!” The seagull on the right replies “Mien!”

All of the rides and shows have one character speaking in English and the other replying in French. Nemo speaks French, Squirt speaks English. Mickey speaks French, Donald speaks English. It doesn’t matter which language you speak, you have to be bilingual to get the joke.

They have a whole Toy Story Land.

You get to ride on a giant hotwheel track.

They also have a big new ride devoted to Ratatouille. In 3D!

Other parts are still stuck in the 90s, like this ride devoted to Armageddon. It was bad, but it could have been worse. It could have involved animal crackers.

Other parts of the park are identical to the American versions and haven’t changed since we were little.

And they still have the original Star Tours, whereas you can only do the updated one in the USA.

The motor stunt show is the same as in the US.

Including the finale.

But they added a random section with Lightning McQueen.

Modelled after Cars 2, which we’ve never even bothered to see.

On two of our days in Paris we went to Disneyland.

It was a nice break from museums. Also this is now the third Disney castle we’ve seen.

It has quite a different look from Cali. and Florida.

There’s a dragon in the basement. This may cause lower property values.

Space mountain has a cool steam punk theme to it.

Fantasyland was similar, except more Alice in Wonderland. We are at the centre of the maze for this picture in a tower and you can see a busy Dumbo ride in the distance.

They have Capitan Hook’s pirate ship and a series of pirate caves.

Indiana Jones is different and does not really match any of the movies here.

They have several walkthrough areas where you can see small models showing scenes of various movies. Here you can see a bulging eyed Aladdin.

 

Buzz Lightyear is still there to guide us on a mission to fight the evil emperor Zerg.

Matt won again. He cheats obviously all the time.
