These are the plants used to wave panama hats.
We did not have time to make hats so we made crowns.
Kerri’s was a bit lopsided.
Matt was choses to get a special hat to protect him from the sun and rain.
They measured his head size.
Then tied it up.
Then hacked off the extra bits with a machete.
Then end result was a funny looking hat.
It was mildly comfortable but pinched a little on the ears.

In the morning we played a stick game.
We each got a big stick and held it so it touched the ground. The leader would clap once or twice.
When he clapped once, we had to grab the stick to the right before it fell. When he clapped twice we had to grab the stick on the left.
Matt was the third last one in the circle.
In the morning they painted our faces so that we wouldn’t pick up any bad energy in the garden.
They poked the fruit with a stick to get the juice and then drew on our faces with it.
Kerri got a sun and Matt got arrows.
Monday night there was a cultural night where we got to see the traditional clothing and dance.
They made a giant bonfire near the river.
Then they danced in front of it.
There was lots of dancing.
While the fire burned lower.
And lower.
And lower.
Near the end they did the limbo. The guy with the guitar was surprisingly good at limboing while playing.
Today we grabbed some inner tubes and set off down the Napo River for Peru. The Napo river is a major tributary to the Amazon.
Unfortunately we did not make it to Peru by dinner time, so the canoe picked us up to take us back to the lodge.
