As pictured, Madonna wore a slip gown from the same collection when winning 'Best Actress' at the 1997 Golden Globe awards and she even wore a sheer over jacket in the same large scale floral patterned lace as our dress. I love how she paired the garment with lean, long black gloves. Dolce & Gabbana are considered the inventors of a Mediterranean style that draws its inspiration from women of Italian realism, sensual and austere like Anna Magnani, to whom they dedicated a collection whose key element was the 1940's slip. They are not looking for a retro look; Dolce & Gabbana turned to the past for innovation. The designers once stated, "We want to use the past to project it into the future".
