Chiapas Dress, Mexico - $65 Less 15% Discount = $55.25

Condition: New (elastic stretched out at the shoulders)

24" Wide  (Measured from arm pit to arm pit, with garment laid flat; double the width for full bust measurement)
56" Around hem
39" Long (shoulder to hem)

Fit: large to extra large

This dress is made of turquoise cotton (manta). A large ruffle featuring a wide crocheted lace trim graces the neckline of this peasant style dress all the way around front and back. The neck ruffle is embellished with multi-colored, embroidered flowers on the front. A horizontal strip of the same embroidery also appears near the hem.

This embroidery is created by starting with hand drawing the unique design. Then using a manual sewing machine, the artist embellishes the design with artistically chosen colors and flourishes, creating a one of a kind piece of wearable art.

Perfect for an evening event, or casual afternoon outing. Express your own style. This dress can be treated as a tunic and paired with leggings or a skirt. Change up the look with a belt or sash. It would look great worn off the shoulder, fiesta style.

Chiapas dresses are hand-made by the local Maya women artisans in Chiapas, located in southern Mexico. Though fashioned in a contemporary style, these dresses include embroidered designs rooted in local history and mythology, linking deep cultural traditions to the modern world. In this matriarchal society, the women play a crucial role in the economy through the creation of these beautiful garments.

Because these items are hand-crafted by local artisans using traditional techniques, slight variations may occur. Note that colors may vary according to each display monitor.

Love them all!
Format: Hardcover
My son has long loved the story of Ferdinand (as have I), so I was delighted to be pointed to these books, now back in print. My son is impatient to read, and reading this aloud to him has been wonderful...For him to think of the places he'll go, and the friends he will meet and share with others is magical. All within books. I highly recommend!

Reading can be fun.
Format: Hardcover
I particularly like Munro Leaf's book on reading, which was written for young children to either read or be read to. The logic of choosing good things to read to develop the mind ( as compared to exercise for the body to develop) is a basic concept in the book. The stick figures are fun and mirror the text well.

Rather dull.
Format: Hardcover
It seems dull and preachy now but may have been fine when it was written (many moons ago). However, not a patch on the magnificent (at least in my memory as a child) Ferdinand The Bull - still a favourite of mine (am I really that old?) I've recently bought many copies for a number of two-year-old children.
