Curiel is an important Italian haute couture brand with a history of over 110 years. Founder Ortensia Curiel ran a tailor shop in Trieste, and after World War II her daughter Gigliola opened a clothing shop in Milan. Since opening in 1945 this boutique was very well-known in upper class Milan and attracted many fans, including royal ladies from La Scala. Gigliola Curiel is the first Italian designer to give exclusive coverage to the prestigious Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York and Harrods in London. Gigliola Curiel custom dresses are rare, unique and highly collectible. Fashioned from exquisite royal purple silk chiffon, this beauty has everything you look for when searching for this designer. The strapless nipped waist bodice has fully boned corsetry with intricate pleating and a flattering sweetheart frame. This rare Gigliola Curiel haute couture gown is in beautiful wearable condition. The garment closes with original side metal zipper and is lined in matching purple silk. There is gorgeous corset boning throughout the interior bodice to keep the shape. Signs of age include some minor underarm bodice wear and overall very faint discoloration from natural patina.
