We know it's difficult to decide COLOR! If you are certain you'd like a piece, but need some time to decide your lacquer color, go ahead and purchase the item so it doesn't get away from you and it’ll reserve your place in our paint line! Please let us know your color choice within two weeks of purchase. If it takes longer than three weeks to select you color your lead time will begin based on the date paint color is submitted in order to keep our operations in Florida on track. We recommend picking up paint swatches from your local paint store to see a color in your home if you’re unsure of a shade! Lighting in individual homes can impact the way the color appears.

This piece is currently in vintage condition and will be professionally refinished in high gloss lacquer. The price includes one of our stock lacquer colors. Our professional painters use a quality, high- gloss customized lacquer to transform these fabulous vintage pieces. If you would like custom color, please add the "custom color" product to your cart and "note" your Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams color code in the notes section upon checkout ($150 upcharge). Please type your color choice in the “note” section found beneath the piece on the left hand side on the cart checkout page. All original hardware will be painted in gloss gold unless specifically requested by the client or the product descriptions says it's eligible for lucite.

Turnaround time for all custom work is an estimate. We suspect lacquering will take anywhere for 8 to 12 weeks and shipping can take up to 2-3 additional weeks. Paint times can be impacted by the volume of orders received at a given time. All timeframes are estimates and subject to change due to the finicky nature of lacquer and working with vintage pieces, some pieces need additional time to cure. Our team will update you once your piece is pulled for paint and provide updates on shipping throughout that process. Clients are able to estimate their lead times based on the timeframes listed above.

Your shipping quote includes ONE small business private shipper hired on your behalf to safely hand- deliver your piece to the GROUND FLOOR/ FOYER of your home. Shipping rates include ground floor/ foyer delivery. We partner with some amazing, independently contracted shippers, and that being said most of them travel alone. They are unable to carry pieces up stairs to your foyer if there is not someone there to assist them. If you desire to have your piece placed in a specific room on the ground floor it is beneficial to have an additional pair of hands available to help AND tip the shipper.

Once your piece is picked up and securely blanket wrapped, you will hear from our Hibiscus House team but the shipper will be your main point of contact for receiving. We ask that our shippers remain in close contact with our clients, but sometimes routes change for a variety of reasons causing delays or different arrival dates. These shippers are on tight timelines and can usually NOT reschedule. (We suggest having a neighbor or family member, a garage code, etc. as a backup plan if you're unable to meet the driver.) We continue to work to get your piece(s) to you as quickly as we can. Once your new piece has left our shop, if there is a delay in getting it to you, the shipper will reach out to you directly. We have little control over the piece once it has been turned over to the shipper.

Yes, we ship anywhere in the continental U.S. (excluding Hawaii and Alaska.) If you experience shipping rate issues upon checking out, please e-mail or direct message us and we will try to work with our shippers and accommodate!

Please keep in mind all sales are final. These are vintage pieces and most are between 50-70 + years of age. All vintage and handprinted items will have some imperfections and it’s not uncommon for newly finished lacquer to have slight imperfections upon arrival. For that reason we include touch up paint and instructions for use with each piece going out! For specific details on the quality of the specific product being purchased please read the first paragraph of the listing where we specify its craftsmanship! If the piece is all wood with dovetailed joints that will be indicated within the first paragraph. Those that don’t specify this craftsmanship may not be all wood. Thank you for trusting our team to create something beautiful for your home!

An Inspiration
After watching a video by one of my favorite youtubers discussing comics and this book, I had to buy it. I have always loved Kate Kane since started Batwoman 52 about a year ago, and was very excited to purchase this graphic novel. My expectations were very high, yet this book still managed to exceed them! Williams and Rucka are both extremely talented gentlemen. As the introduction points out, they really do convince you that these characters are real. You almost can't believe Kate isn't an actual human being, and you can really imagine meeting her in real life. I also was very (if not more) impressed with the artwork. The compositions are simply stunning, and completely original. I absolutely love how the scenes with Kate as Batwoman are illustrated with lots of detail and fluidity. It really has an eery watercolor effect, with great linework and color. This completely contrasts the scenes where Kate is either out on the town or in her home. Much more graphic, but still delightful. The costumes in this series are also amazing. Both Kate and her foe have some stunning outfits, and are very unique. Since I had already read Batwoman 52, I knew how everything that was going to go down. A lot of this book was her origin and was very interesting. And although I already knew what was going to happen, it still managed to make me cry. Don't think it won't be exciting or interesting just because you already know her origin, Williams and Rucka really pull you in and keep it very exciting. Kate Kane is definitely my comic book hero, and is truly an inspiration. If you are just getting into Batwoman or comics, this is a great place to start. Of course you may be disappointed when no other series can compare! What a shame Batwoman 52 is about to come to an end, this really is as good as it gets people, and I am very sad to see such a creative and talented team leave, but I do understand completely. I highly recommend this book to Kate Kane, DC and comic book fans everywhere! Enjoy!

Renews faith in comics
Decided to dive into the DC Comics New 52 and in preparation for Batwoman #1, I decided to pick up this book as a recommendation to getting the full story on this relatively new character to the DC world. This comic renewed my faith in comic books as both great stories and great pieces of art! Greg Rucka crafts a great story here but the artist JH Williams III presents it to you. You get to know this character here in more ways than just a quick reference. Batwoman is given the desire to serve her fellow man as her motivation. She is given the demographic of a Jewish lesbian soldier with a solid family background which is something we don't see much in our universe of white dominated or scarred superheroes. Sure she lost her mother and twin sister as at a young age, but she isn't damaged here. She rises above and serves only to be disappointed by trust issues in her life. But Rucka and Williams make her a bold woman who just keeps going like a shark, surviving because its her instinct and not her desire to escape something. This is the 21st Century woman superhero. Panels of note for me were: 1) how they presented the apartment Batwoman's alter ego lived in, 2) a beautiful full page spread showing the fight on the plane between Batwoman and Alice, 3) a transition panel where Batwoman and Alice are shown on the phone to each other, 4) a touching series where Batwoman as a child and her twin sister realize they are moving because of military orders and their life will change and they swear to always be there for each other. If you want to take a chance on the DC Comics reboot, take a chance on Batwoman #1 and get this one to bring you up to speed, you won't be sorry. A great twist for any new reader wanting to test the graphic novel/comic book scene.

Beautiful Art, Compelling Story
The birth of Kate Kane as Batwoman is one of my favorite graphic novels in my collection. I already owned the digital edition on my iPad, but the art by J.H. Williams was just too amazing not to see in print. This artist knows how to draw beautifully artistic pages; right down to the panels themselves. I also love the style shift from nighttime Batwoman to daytime Kate Kane. The story is really great, especially the ending of Elegy! I also really loved the back stories that follow, showing the history of Kate Kane and how she became the Batwoman. Its also good to know that the New 52 timeline in DC didn't delete all this continuity. Batwoman isn't another Batman flunkie. She's a strong woman and an amazing character that Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams really bring to life in this book.

Better Than Batman!
This is by far one of the best Batman titles that doesn't include Batman as the title character. I'm not much of a reader of Batman, but I have been very interested in Batwoman since I read the 52 series back in 2006. The story line itself is much better then when 52 presented her for the first time. I really like how Rucka focused more on her homosexuality and making her an identical twin too (since I'm a twin myself). However, what blew me away the most was the artwork. Williams really focuses on covering the entire page with art and color; giving you the full comic book art experience. I have seen and very much liked his work in Promethea and think this is just as good. Batwoman is now my second favorite super heroine after Wonder Woman of course.
