Make this delightful 1940s era dress that features a scalloped or picot self-fabric edging that was popular at the time. Made in a single fabric, the edging creates a sweet and subtle embellishment, adding a contrasting fabric makes for a stunning finish. The simple design of the dress includes a rolled collar with short puffed sleeves. The waistline falls at the natural waist with a knee length gathered skirt. The dress opens all the way in the back for easy dressing and is fastened with six buttons, although hook-and-loop tape or snaps can be used, if preferred. A set of bias cut ties help to adjust the fit while adding a little extra adornment to the back.

Suggested Fabrics: Dress in medium weight cotton, cotton blends, cotton shirting, gingham, wool shirting, silk, or linen. Lightweight fabrics such as cotton batiste can be used, but are not recommended. Not suitable for knits.

• Six inches 1/8” wide ribbon for decorative bow

• Ruler
• Point turner or blunt needle
• Tube turner for turning ties
