The Valentina is the perfect elegant-while-staying-comfortable dress. It features a lined princess seam bodice with an elastic back panel and adjustable straps. The elastic panel is not only a beautiful detail but also provides the flexibility and comfort to wear this dress all day long, even during times when your body might be changing. The Valentina dress also comes with two skirt options: a gathered skirt and a half circle skirt. Both skirt styles offer two length options, one ending above the knee and the other at the ankle.

Lightweight woven fabric with soft drape. For example:

  • Cotton (lawn, satin, shirting, chambray, poplin, embroidery anglaise)
  • Rayon (viscose, tencel lyocell, challis, cupro)
  • Linen

Notions

  • Thread
  • 1 cm (3/8") ring and slider (note: if you are using a thicker fabric you may need 2 sets of 1.3 (1/2") ring and slider instead)
  • 2-2.5 cm (3/4"-1") lace ribbon (optional for finishing the raw edge of the waist seam)


Supplies

These supplies are optional and in addition to basic sewing supplies.

  • Loop turner or safety pin (for pulling the elastic through the casing)
  • Ban roll (optional for sewing the hem)
  • Tailor's hem (optional for pressing the princess seams)

A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
