It is called Rosary Pea in the US, Peonia in the Carribean, Huaryruro in South America, Owerenjeje/Iwerenjeje or Oju Ologbo in Yorubaland, and Gulaganji (Gunja/Chirmi) in India. These seeds are well known for their unique red and black color, symbolizing duality and balance. In indigenous traditions around the world this seed is used for both protection and good fortune.
