Beaucarnea Recurvata
Common Name: Ponytail Palm

Despite its name, the Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata) isn’t a palm at all—it’s a caudiciform succulent known for its bulbous base and cascading fountain of curly, grass-like leaves. Native to eastern Mexico, this drought-tolerant beauty stores water in its swollen trunk, making it incredibly resilient and easy to care for.

With its striking silhouette and architectural presence, Beaucarnea recurvata is ideal for both indoor and outdoor settings. Whether placed in a bright corner or featured as a patio focal point, this plant adds character and charm with minimal fuss.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun. Indoors, give it the brightest spot possible. Outdoors, it loves full sun but can tolerate partial shade.

💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply but infrequently. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. It’s highly drought-tolerant and can go weeks without water thanks to its water-storing caudex.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy down to around 25°F when mature and established, especially in dry conditions. For younger plants or freezing climates, protect from frost or bring indoors. Consider a [Heat Pack] for winter orders.

✨ Special Features
Water-Storing Caudex – Swollen base adds sculptural beauty and drought resistance.
Graceful Foliage – Long, curling leaves spill outward like a ponytail.
Low Maintenance – Nearly care-free with proper lighting and drainage.

Other Common Names:
Elephant Foot Tree, Bottle Palm, Ponytail Palm

This cactus will ship bare root and will be ready to place directly in a well draining soil mix like our Custom Cactus Mix.

Photos in the listings unless otherwise specified are representative of the plant that will be sent to you.
However, Plants grow differently and each plant may vary slightly in shape, size, growth pattern, etc.
Of course, if you receive a plant that you are dissatisfied with please reach out to us. We want to make it right!

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.

Latex allergy stopped me from taking bromelain
I was excited to find a natural solution to inflammation and sinus issues. However, after taking this for less than a week, I had a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. After a deep dive on Google, I found out that if you are allergic to latex, you shouldn't take bromelain. Latex Cross-Reactivity: Bromelain is derived from pineapple. People with a latex allergy are at higher risk of an allergic reaction to bromelain. This allergy can manifest as sneezing, itchy throat, or inflammation in the sinuses, which can trigger nosebleeds. I was taking this to get rid of the inflammation in my sinuses, not add to it. I also had tingling in my fingers, which a deep dive on Google said could happen if I am sensitive to quercetin. Quercetin Side Effects: While generally safe, high-dose or sensitive use of quercetin can cause "tingling in the extremities" (numbness/tingling in hands/feet). Thus is neither a high dose of eother of these, nor was it used long-term, so I guess I am sensitive to them both. Beware if you are sensitive to medications and/or have a latex allergy. I can't say if these pills made a positive impact on me, because I only found negative effects, but that is due to my body being so quirky.
