With these five Bonsai (Forever) stamps, the U.S. Postal Service celebrates the beauty of bonsai. The word "bonsai" (Japanese for "plant in a pot") refers to the art of cultivating plants — usually trees — in trays, pots, or other containers. Favorite bonsai plants include evergreens, maples, and azaleas, but many other trees and shrubs are also suitable. One of the common styles of bonsai is shown on each of these five stamps. The first stamp depicts a Sierra juniper in semi-cascade style, in which the tip projects over the pot rim but does not extend below the base. Second is a trident maple in informal upright style, in which the trunk bends slightly to the left or right. Third is a black pine in formal upright style, with the trunk straight and tapering evenly, with symmetrical branches, from base to apex. Fourth is an azalea plant in multiple-trunk style, with several trunks emerging from one root system. The fifth and final stamp shows a banyan in cascade style, in which the trunk evokes a stream flowing down a mountainside, with the tip extending below the pot's base. The plants depicted are roughly 15 to 20 inches tall. Although no one knows when the first bonsai was created, it is generally accepted that Buddhist monks brought the practice from China to Japan about a thousand years ago. The bonsai collection at the National Arboretum began in 1976 when the Nippon Bonsai Association in Tokyo, Japan, presented the people of the United States with 53 plants as part of the U.S. bicentennial commemoration. A bonsai master begins with seeds, cuttings, a naturally stunted tree, or a very young tree. Over time, he or she prunes the roots and branches, uses wire to shape and "train" the branches, and sometimes scrapes or peels bark to achieve desired effects. The plant is watered and repotted when necessary, and can live a hundred years or more. Art director and stamp designer Ethel Kessler worked with artist John D. Dawson on the "Bonsai" stamps.

Issued 2012 but valid forever the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price.

a great series of comics
Format: Kindle
This is the first in a great series of short stories by different authors and artists. The quality ranges but it's nice to have the variety. It makes for a well rounded Batman book.

A must have for any CEO, Entrepreneur, and Product / Project Manager
Format: Hardcover
I'm almost through finishing this book, and I'm already recommending this to so many of my friends. I feel like many companies could probably save fortunes by reading this book instead of hiring consultants from many top tier firms. You could essentially take this book and follow it as a step-by-step tutorial for making any project succeed. For example, Simon discusses in one chapter the 10 steps for a successful strategic project portfolio management process: know what you have, build momentum, define business goals, capture ideas, be transparent, prioritize, use efficient decision making, establish communication frameworks, conduct postmortems, and improve continually. These may sound like no brainers, but you'll be surprised how many people stray from these steps and lose their focus when they're caught in the excitement of developing their ideas. If you're an entrepreneur with or without an MBA, this book will help you strategize and plan the next steps after you've settled on your block buster idea. If you're a CEO or you're managing projects within a company, you'll learn in addition the early stages of generating the perfect balance of ideas and resources for creating a portfolio of projects with the highest chance of success. Amazing book. Learned a ton so far. It's written very well and gets straight to the point. Looking forward to other books by Simon Moore. Keep up the great work.

I had an interview with Simon
Format: Kindle
I didn't get the job, but I did find his book extremely useful. During my interview, I failed to explain a complex financial concept in way that was easy to understand. Simon does not have this problem. The book was easy to follow and motivated me to drive idea generation within the company I currently work for. I would recommend this book to start ups or innovation officers as I have already seen results.
