Pitcher plants will naturally have less pitcher production in the winter due to lack of as many bugs in the winter and a natural dormancy period

The Nepenthes Gaya aka pitcher plants burgundy.  The pitchers form with closed lids until they are ready to eat, then the top opens emitting a pheromone while making the liquid inside able to be consumed by insects.
