Sprout Home will select a collection of plants to be potted in your terrarium based on light needs.  

Desert:  Succulent-like plants, possibly including cactus, that can handle full to part sun.  Let dry out between waterings.  Walking though the desert landscape. 

Foliage: Leafy based foliage that does well in part shade to shade.  Full and lush.  Dry to the touch or even moisture.  Taking a stroll through the forest.

Does not stay cool
I bought this for my bunny and the material itself does feel cool at first. My bunny wast laying on it for about 30- 40 minutes and it feels warm to the touch. So while it does feel cool initially, if your pet is warm the pad will get warm as well. I'd recommend leaving the fan on for your pet in addition to the pad or placing a frozen water bottle on the pad so it keeps the pad cool a little longer.
