I'm putting up shelves around my bed for my books, and so far, the first shelf is holding nicely with these brackets. I then held it against the wall and used a level to make sure it was level, then put a screw in the middle bracket to hold it level while i marked the rest of the screw holes. I did this all by myself, but it would've been a lot easier to do with two people. I plan to buy more and put up more shelves
