Native to: The parent species of this hybrid are native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Anthurium dressleri is endemic to Panama, thriving in lowland tropical forests, while Anthurium papillilaminum is also found in Panama, typically in humid, shaded environments.
Water: Maintain consistently moist soil for this hybrid, ensuring it is neither waterlogged nor dry. Water when the top layer of the potting mix feels dry to the touch, allowing excess water to drain freely. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's crucial to balance moisture levels appropriately.
Light: Provide bright, indirect light to emulate the dappled sunlight of its native understory environment. Direct sunlight can cause leaf scorching, while insufficient light may slow growth. Placing the plant near an east or north-facing window with filtered light is ideal.
Humidity: This hybrid thrives in high humidity levels, ideally between 60% and 80%. In the UK, especially during winter months when indoor air can become dry, using a humidifier, grow tent or placing the plant on a humidity tray can help maintain adequate moisture levels. Given its preference for elevated humidity, this plant is well-suited for cultivation in terrariums, provided its size permits.
Temperature: Maintain indoor temperatures between 19°C and 25°C to support healthy growth. Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations, which can cause stress and hinder development.
