Delosperma, commonly called “ice plant,” is a low-growing succulent native to South Africa, prized for its dazzling, jewel-toned flowers and ability to thrive in harsh, dry conditions. Its fleshy leaves often glisten in the sun, giving the appearance of tiny ice crystals—hence the name. Blooming from spring through fall, Delosperma covers the ground with mats of vibrant color, ranging from magenta and orange to yellow and white, making it a favorite for rock gardens, borders, and difficult slopes where little else thrives. Its drought tolerance and evergreen foliage add to its appeal, particularly in xeriscaping and low-maintenance landscapes.

This hardy perennial (USDA zones 5–10, depending on the variety) thrives in full sun and well-drained, sandy or rocky soil. Once established, Delosperma requires little care beyond occasional watering in extended droughts. Its spreading habit quickly fills gaps, helping to suppress weeds and stabilize soil. Despite its delicate, daisy-like blossoms, it is remarkably tough—tolerant of heat, poor soil, and even some frost. With its combination of resilience and radiant display, the ice plant embodies both practicality and beauty, rewarding gardeners who value color without fuss.

Mostly happy
Color: Grape
Have a 1 1/2 yr old Belgian Malinois who needs things to do. I bought these and he loved it. Bad thing, it took him 1 day to chew the rope off both grape and pineapple. The stems on the cherry were also chewed off. The rest of the toy is intact and he still loves it.

Came apart.
Color: Cherries
We were playing with it and the green part pulled off of the red part. I'm pretty sure that is not supposed to happen. I took the green part away from the dog because that part is too small for my pup to play with. But we continue to play with the red part. My dog likes the texture and the bounciness.

Caution - handle comes off!
Color: Cherries
I really liked this toy when I opened package--our dog liked as well! Until a short time ago when I saw her chewing on the green "stem"! The stem had come apart from the main cherries. This is a small enough part that I think she or any bigger dog could choke on. Our dog is a small lab. Would not recommend buying.
