The Nepenthes Pitcher Plant, also known as the Monkey Cup Plant, is an exotic, tropical carnivorous plant that develops unique hanging pitcher traps to capture and digest insects. These elegant and colorful pitchers produce sweet nectar that lures in prey, making it a natural pest controller while adding a stunning visual appeal to any indoor or greenhouse setup.

Nepenthes thrive in high-humidity environments and make excellent additions to terrariums, paludariums, and greenhouse setups. Their ability to absorb moisture from the air makes them a fantastic choice for enclosed tropical displays. Pre-potted in a 2" Plastic Pot, this low-maintenance carnivorous plant is a fascinating addition to any plant collection.

Features We Love:

  • Exotic, Hanging Pitchers: Beautiful, vase-shaped traps dangle from tendrils, perfect for unique displays.
  • Natural Pest Control: Attracts and digests insects, reducing flies, gnats, and other pests naturally.
  • Terrarium & Paludarium Friendly: Thrives in humid, enclosed environments with proper air circulation.
  • Perfect for Indoor Growing: Can thrive in warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light.
  • Diverse and Unique Species: Different varieties produce pitchers in shades of red, green, or even speckled patterns.

Care Guidelines:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light or filtered sunlight; avoid direct afternoon sun.
  • Water: Use only distilled water, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water—never tap water. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.
  • Temperature: 65° - 85° F (18° - 29° C); prefers warm, humid environments.
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity (60-80%); mist regularly or grow in a terrarium/paludarium/greenhouse setup.
  • Growth Rate: Moderate to fast; pitchers can grow for months before needing replacement.
  • Feeding: If grown indoors, occasionally provide small insects like fruit flies or freeze-dried bugs—never feed meat or human food.

Perfect for Terrariums & Paludariums!

The Nepenthes Pitcher Plant is an excellent choice for rainforest-style terrariums and tropical paludariums. Its ability to absorb moisture from the air and thrive in warm, humid conditions makes it a natural fit for bioactive enclosures. Pair it with mosses, ferns, and creeping vines for a lush, exotic look, and provide perches or hanging spots to allow the pitchers to develop freely.

Best Tank Mates for a Bioactive Setup:
Dart Frogs & Tree Frogs – Safe in a tropical, misted terrarium.
Geckos – Great for humid enclosures like Crested Gecko setups.
Small Invertebrates – Thrives with springtails and isopods in bioactive setups.
Not Recommended for Tanks with Herbivorous Reptiles – May get damaged by heavy foraging animals.

Pro Tips:

  • Watering Method: Keep soil consistently moist but avoid standing water in the pot.
  • Soil Mix: Prefers a well-draining, nutrient-poor mix like sphagnum moss and perlite.
  • Air Circulation: Good airflow prevents mold and helps maintain pitcher production.
  • Encourage Pitchers: Regular misting and stable humidity help maintain healthy pitcher growth.
  • Placement: Ideal for hanging baskets, terrarium perches, or attached to driftwood in a paludarium.

Greatest watch I've ever had, but changing batteries is near impossible
Color: Black/Blue
This is the 3rd time I've bought this watch. Same brand, same or very similar model. It has a chronometer, timer, alarm, and of course the clock. It has something I think is for "occasions" but I don't know what it does and don't really care about it. The watch is durable. It uses battery power efficiently. The indiglo is second to none. I just really really like this watch. Having said all that, if you want to change the batteries, good luck, you'll need it. Once you manage to get the backing off of it and open it up (which is a little tricky in itself), it's like a comedy routine where you see some stooge open an electrical device and a buncha parts and springs go flying everywhere. And of course, they are so tiny, you'll never find them once they fly out. That was the exact scenario I found myself in the last time I tried to change the battery. It made me so mad I actually bought another brand of watch that I thoroughly researched. But that watch DIDN'T use battery power efficiently, and it had a host of other minor problems that added up to the conclusion that it was not nearly as great as this Timex. So, for the 3rd time, I found myself buying this Timex watch. So it's a wonderful watch in every way except longevity because changing the batteries has historically been a nightmare for me.

A better Ironman design
Color: Black/Blue
I've been a fan of Timex watches for most of my life, paying about $30 for one in the 1960s, and that hasn't changed at all in 2010 because I'm still paying about $30 for my Timex watches. It is a rare case indeed when the quality of a product continually improves over several decades while the price remains the same. And as John Cameron Swayze would say in those live ads during the early years of TV, "Timex takes a lickin and keeps on tickin". The MEGA deserves a good review after I have been using it for a while. You might also see it advertized as the "Oversize" because most distinctive about this design is its size, so tagging it with the name MEGA is entirely justified. It is massive in comparison to most of the other Ironman series of watches, and what seemed at first to be just another unnecessary Ironman 30 Lap design has turned out to be one of my favorites for all-around wearing. This new design keeps the clockworks of the standard size 30 Lap Ironman watches, it counts up and down, programs the same, has several alarms, and of course, it has the Indigo night light that works so well. This is one of five different versions of the Mega available in the USA, and the only one with a Fastwrap Velcro wristband with blue striping and a matching blue bezel. Velcro wristbands are a favorite among many athletes and when it wears out, it can be replaced with either an identical factory band or one that is made of urethane rubber. Overall, the Mega is a good choice for runners in need of a new 30 lap Ironman who can appreciate having a watch that is distinctively larger and what I would consider to be much better in appearances over the others of standard or mid size Ironman dimensions.

Annoyed but extremely nice
Color: 2858-Silver Gold
Edited review: At first I was mad because the tool bent, possibly due to my own misunderstanding of how to use, but I then bought a watch link removal kit and everything popped out. As for the watch, it's really nice and has a great color scheme. I ordered the gold and silver.
