Monstera deliciosa variegata 'Mint'

Monstera deliciosa variegata 'Mint' has pale green variegation that appears as soft washes, mottling or marbled sections across the leaf blade. Leaves can shift between deeper green and cooler mint-toned areas, giving the plant a muted green variegated look.

The plant grows from a climbing Monstera deliciosa stem. Nodes, aerial roots and long petioles form as it develops, and mature plants can produce larger leaves with splits and fenestrations once the stem is well rooted and attached.

Mint Monstera leaf colour and mature growth

  • Leaf colour: Green blades with pale mint, soft green or lightly marbled variegation.
  • Growth habit: A climbing aroid with aerial roots and node-based growth.
  • Pattern variation: Each leaf can show a different balance of green and mint-toned tissue.
  • Maturing indoors: Warmth, a firm support and an airy root zone allow larger leaves to open as the stem develops.

How Mint variegation develops on Monstera leaves

As the stem strengthens, new leaves can open larger and show more mature Monstera shape, including deeper splits and fenestrations on established growth. The pale green variegation stays visually soft while the plant develops the broader leaf form expected from Monstera deliciosa.

With warm roots, open substrate and careful watering, new leaves usually expand with fewer tears. The pale green pattern is clearest on leaves that harden without tearing or browning.

Mint Monstera indoor care

  • Light: Place in bright filtered light and keep pale areas out of strong direct sun.
  • Watering: Water when the upper part of the mix has dried and the pot feels lighter.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky aroid mix that balances moisture retention with fast drainage.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher humidity helps rolled leaves unfurl with less tearing.
  • Support: Provide a pole or plank so the stem can climb and aerial roots can anchor.
  • Maintenance: Remove fully dead leaves cleanly and avoid unnecessary pruning on slow new growth.
  • Fertilising: Use a mild feed once mint-variegated leaves are opening steadily; flush mineral residue before increasing the dose.
  • Repotting: Move up once thick roots crowd the container; a smaller step keeps the chunky mix drying evenly.

Common Mint Monstera leaf problems

  • Pale areas browning: Check sun exposure, root stress, watering gaps and humidity around new leaves.
  • Damaged unfurling leaves: Inspect the rolled leaf for pests, dryness or mechanical rubbing.
  • Weak stem growth: Add firmer support and check whether roots have filled the pot well.
  • Yellow lower leaves: Review old leaf drop, soggy substrate and sudden temperature changes.

Mint Monstera and pet safety

Monstera deliciosa variegata 'Mint' contains calcium oxalate crystals. Chewed plant tissue can irritate the mouth and throat, and sap from cut stems may irritate skin.

Monstera deliciosa species background

This plant belongs to Monstera deliciosa, a wet-tropical aroid in Araceae. Monstera refers to the unusual mature leaf form, while deliciosa points to the ripe fruit produced by mature plants in suitable tropical climates.

The pale green pattern stays soft while Monstera deliciosa variegata 'Mint' develops the broad, split-leaf form of Monstera deliciosa.

My puppy’s favorite fetch toy!
Size: Small
Update Aug 27, 2024: After 10 months, these are still his favorite ball. He’s obsessed with fetching and plays with them all day. They do bounce really high. Unfortunately, the small size aren’t available for sale anywhere anymore. I tried the medium size, and he has a bit of trouble hanging on to them, but he manages. Weirdly, he prefers the orange one, but he also plays with the blue one. My 7 month old Shih Tzu puppy loves to fetch, and these are his new favorites. They’re small enough to fit in his mouth, and they are made of hard plastic, so he’s able to hold on to them. They have a lot of bounce, and this adds to the fun for him. I highly recommend them.

Genuinely bummed that these great balls can’t stand up against my Chloè.
Size: Medium
I love all the Chuckit brand of balls. I found that the Strabo and glow balls in the Chuckit line are the softest, and as such, don't last as long as the rest of Chuckit line of balls. Having said that, they do last longer than than every other brand I've tried (and I do believe I’ve tried every brand available on the market today.) The strato balls do bounce higher than any of the other balls in the Chuckit line. They really are a good value.

Great dog balls at a great price
Size: Medium
The balls are a favorite for my dog. I could have done without the hole through the middle because I don't do treats in balls anyway. My dog loves balls for their own merit. I needed replacement balls for my Nerf Dog Ball launcher. It seems the originals have disappeared from the market. I took a chance because the price is right and this Chuck-it ball works very well so we're liking this ball a lot. So far my Dachsund, who can destroy a tennis ball (the kind they are selling as Nerf Dog replacements) in 3 minutes has not done any damage to this one so that's a win. I recommend this as a much better ball than the fuzzy tennis balls. I like the colors too since many dog toys are green (which gets lost in the lawn, etc.) or red (even though dogs have red/green color blindness. Blue and orange are good and pretty easy to find. I liked these well enough that this set was my second purchase so I will have spares in case the others are lost.

My Baby loves his new baby!
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
Finally! A ball my 107 lb. pitty/pointer mix can’t destroy. He has torn up every single “indestructible” toy in a day or so until now. He peels fabric and fur off non-rubber toys. He is a 4-legged shredder. I’ve added pictures of him for a size reference of my dog versus this product. I know I had wanted that when shopping for this item. This ball is now his beloved “baby.” He goes absolutely insane looking for it, chewing it, chasing it, and even sleeping with it. He won’t rest unless he knows exactly where it is. It is his only toy, and he is good with that. After getting this home, I tried giving him other choices, but he won’t touch them. I was worried that he would rip it apart by putting his teeth in the holes, but so far, not a scratch. It is soft enough to collapse just enough to keep it from cracking when his jaws crush it but not so soft that he can rip it to sheds. The holes are large enough to prevent a suction or vacuum effect on his tongue or mouth. For his size jaws, it is a perfect fit. Other dogs might have problems with suction or be able to get their teeth in those holes and rip it apart. Who knows? The older version of the Chuckit squeaky ball was his favorite for the year and a half he had it, but the way they make them now, he peels off the orange triangle in hours flat, the squeaker falls out (choking hazard), and then he rips it apart. I’m going to stock up on these. I can’t imagine how crazy he will be if they ever stop production or change the materials.

Great little toy for playful small dogs
These toys are a soft latex kind of material. I would not recommend these for larger dogs who can wreck a tennis ball, or who are rough with toys. The material of these toys lasts quite a while, but does break down in direct sunlight in addition to dog saliva and being left outdoors in inclement weather. My dogs have played with these toys for a week's time with no adverse reactions from the materials. For a better explanation of the toy, see my video. I show a "durable" toy that is at least 12 years old. I show a similar toy to these here, but shaped like a chicken. It is showing the effects of time, and dog love; it was a favorite of my previous pet, and bequeathed to the dogs I now have. This chicken toy will "disappear" soon because its material is breaking down. I highly recommend these toys for dogs who like small toys, soft toys, and toys that squeak. I do not recommend these for dogs who are "chewers" of toys, large dogs who may swallow this toy(it fits in an average woman's palm), for owners who hate squeeking toys, or for a pack of dogs who will bite and pull at this toy. Although it does have stretch, it can be sliced with sharp teeth, and come apart.
