Planting Instructions:

Soil Preparation:

Choose an area with heavy, well-draining soil that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. Remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Leave small weeds and dead grass, they will enrich the soil when turned under. Spade or till the soil 8-12 inches deep. Loosening the soil will help the plant establish strong roots.

Plants grow best in soil with lots of organic matter. You may optionally add fertilizer or organic material such as compost, leaves, or rotted hay to mix into the soil at this point. For small gardens, scatter 2-3 tablespoons of fertilizer evenly and work into the top 2-3 inches of soil for each hill or 2 foot by 2 foot planting area. For larger gardens, scatter 2-3 pounds of a complete fertilizer for each 100 square feet of planting area. Work fertilizer or organic material into the soil and leave the surface smooth.

Form rows of soil beds 4-6 inches high and at least 4 feet apart. This formation of ridges will help with drainage.

Planting:

Cucumber grow best in warm weather (75F-85F).

Starting Indoors: For an earlier harvest, you may optionally start planting indoors in containers 2-3 weeks before the last expected frost date in Spring, keeping seedlings at least 70F. Harden off then transplant seedlings outdoors in a sunny location when the soil temperature is above 65F. To transplant seedlings, prepare a transplant hole outdoors in a sunny location. Remove the plants carefully from the pots or flats and set them in the holes, burying some of the stem in the ground. Pack the soil loosely around the plant and leave a slightly sunken area around each plant to hold water. Water the plants after transplanting. Optionally, Train plants to climb a 6-8 foot trellis or fence as they establish.

Directly Sowing: If directly sowing cucumbers outdoors, plant in mid-late spring when the soil warms to at least 70F. If Fall planting, sow in early summer, at least 12-14 weeks before the first expected frost date - or if growing indoors, keep at >70F using supplemental grow lights.

To plant, make holes 1 inch deep and spaced 2 feet apart down the rows of raised beds. Plant 2-3 seeds per hole. If choosing to thin to the strongest plant, determine the strongest and healthiest plant, then remove all other plants, narrowing to a single plant per hole. Cover seeds thinly with soil and water after planting. Optionally, train plants to climb a 6-8 foot trellis or fence as they establish, spacing plants 10 inches apart at the base of the trellis.

*Tip: You can plant fast maturing crops such as lettuce and radishes between cucumber hills to save space. These will be harvested before the cucumber vines get too large.

Planting Depth: 1 inch
Within-Row Spacing: 2 feet (sprawl) or 10 inches (trellis)
Between-Row Spacing: 4 feet

Care During the Season:

Watering: Water the plants deeply, soaking the soil to a depth of 6-8 inches, once a week. If there is no rainfall, water 2-3 times a week. Sandy soils may need to be watered more often than heavy clay soils. Mulching around plants can help retain moisture.

Weeding: Keeping plants weed-free improves production. If plowing or hoeing, do not dig deeper than 1 inch to prevent from cutting the feeder roots.

Fertilizing: Once plants start to bloom and set fruit, you may optionally apply a fertilizer that is higher in potassium and phosphorus and lower in nitrogen. Read and follow fertilizer instructions for best application. Water plants after fertilizing.

Insecticides: Insecticides may be used to protect plants. Bt-based insecticides and sulfur are organic options that can be used for prevention. Sulfur also has fungicidal properties and helps in controlling many diseases. Before using a pesticide, read the label and follow cautions, warnings and directions.

Diseases: If spots or mold appear, treat plants with an approved fungicide. Neem oil, sulfur, and other fungicides may be used. When using fungicides always follow label directions.

Harvesting:

Harvest cucumbers when reach the desired size and are green in color. Harvest Japanese Long cucumbers when reach the desired size and are deep green in color. These cucumbers are best picked when they are 12 inches long and mature. Cucumbers grown for pickling are best 3-4 inches long and up to 1 inch in diameter at maturity. Either type can be used for pickling if picked when small. It is best not to wait until cucumbers start yellowing because they will be over-mature and have a strong flavor. To harvest, use a pair of clean scissors or a knife to cut the cucumber from the vine, leaving about an inch of stem attached to avoid damaging the plant.

Good. Decent quality.
Color: Black, Size: Small
The quality is good, especially for the price. I didn’t like that the wrist buttons were non functional. We bought cuffs that he couldn’t use. It looks nice. The size is a little big for my son, but that was kind of expected. I was hoping we would get lucky and that wouldn’t be the case but I couldn’t find any suites in a smaller size that would arrive on time. He is 5’7, 120-125 pounds. It was mostly in the shoulders that it looks big. He is thin. The arm length fit him but he does have long arms. The pants fit with a little looseness. His jeans size at American eagle is 28/36, but he can fit slightly bigger with a belt. The pants were good but the vest and jacket were a little big. They’re just slightly long and jacket is big in the shoulders. We got a size small.

QUALITY AND COMPORTABLE FITTING IN LOWER PRICE...
Color: Navy, Size: Large
WOW! this suit really true to its sizes description... I ordered in a different company before this, but I have to return it TWICE because of wrong size fittings... Finally, this beautifully tailored suit timely arrived before my son's wedding reception, and we are ready to celebrate!!! Thank you and might order some different colors in the future... I wonder if they can make the pants in higher waist and straight cut or wider for the legs in the future as an option... Just a thought since slim fit pants are slowly outdating...

Great quality product!
Color: Black, Size: Large
Great product and great fit. I ordered a Large and normally wear a 42 Regular. Jacket was perfect, as was the vest. Pants waist is flexible and fit fine but length needs to be shortened. Overall, I’m impressed with this product! Highly recommended!

Fashion on budget.
Color: Black, Size: Medium
Beautiful, solid material, the texture feels expensive. Only returning because I need 2 sizes down as my son is very slim. Ordering an XS right away.

Class without the price
Size: Large, Color: Burgundy
After purchasing many of the suit offerings on Amazon, Luperty's suit are the best for the price. The adjustable pants makes for a smooth fitting experience, and allow you to breathe when you've clearly eaten to much. The pant length is ideal for a classic suit appearance. If you want a more modern fit you'll have to get them hemmed higher. The vest is form fitting, which is to say not as forgiving as the pants, but will definitely cut a sharper figure. The jacket fits well off the rack for me, albeit the sleeves could be pulled in a bit. I ordered a Large size, which all the pieces fit well for a 5'11", sub 200 lb man. I wouldn't say I'm very in shape, so your milage may very. After buying my first suit from Luperty, I was so impressed that I purchased the rest of the colors as well. My only complaint is that I wish the sleeve lining was more interesting. They all use the same generic white striped fabric. I would have liked to see more variation for each of the different colors. As I have bought all the colors, even the cream color which they no longer offer, I think I can give some insight on which ones work best. 1. Burgundy - This is the best looking one. It's a statement to wear this color of suit. This suit is bold but refined, like a smooth wine. I've gotten the most compliments with this color than any other. It's eye catching and sharp, and you'll feel classy in it. I've actually bought two of these. 2. Dark Grey - This suit is the one you wear to an important board meeting. It's a beautiful charcoal that has a nice sheen to it. A timeless appearance that shows class but muted enough to not take center stage. 3. Cream - Another bold suit, maybe too bold seeing as how they no longer sell it. This suit defines the Miami Vice mafioso look, and it pulls it off nicely. Pairs extremely well with bright pastels. Don't forget to lose the tie and unbutton at least two of the top buttons to get the full effect. 4. Navy Blue - This one's name does it a disservice. The blue is almost at Royal Blue level. The color is definitely striking and can be elevated easily. You might be able to pull this off in a professional setting as well as blue is seen as a more business oriented color, though I believe this is just slightly over the top. However, I like over the top. 5. Light Grey - This one is very light. You wear this one to the same things as the dark grey one, but want to show a bit more character. It strikes me as more of a European color, and maybe that makes it feel more sophisticated. Wearing it with a pocket watch is optional but recommended. 6. Black - This is where we start to decline in color quality. I knows it's black, but I'd like to have seen some more texture, similar to the dark grey. Hopefully you don't have to wear it much given the negative context. 7. Dark Navy - I think I like this one better than the black one, however this one is DARK. I often have to put it right next to my black one to differentiate them, it's that dark. In various lighting you can tell people its a black suit and no one would refute you. Because of this reason I think it's worse than the black. But it makes for the perfect bog standard suit to wear into the office if you need it to. All of these suits are under $100, and often go on sale for less. I cannot recommend them enough for first time suit buyers. As always, remember to open up the vents in the back that are sewn shut, as well as the pockets. As lucky as I am to be able to have these fit almost perfectly, the last step in any suit journey is to have them tailored to you. It might cost as much as this suit, but a $1000 suit off the rack will have nothing on a $100 suit that's been tailored.
