  • Cleaning – Remove all fruit pulp thoroughly to prevent mold

  • Soaking – Soak seeds in warm water (100°F/38°C) for 24-48 hours

Best Planting Time:

  • Tropical Zones: Year-round

  • Subtropical Areas: Spring to early summer (minimum 70°F/21°C soil temp)

Planting Method:

  1. Soil: Rich, acidic mix (pH 4.5-6.0) with high organic matter

  2. Depth: Plant 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep in seed trays

  3. Container: Start in deep pots (taproot grows quickly)

  4. Temperature: Maintain 85-95°F (29-35°C) for germination

  5. Humidity: Keep at 80-90% with plastic cover

Germination Care:

  • Sprout Time: 30-90 days (notoriously slow)

  • Light: Bright shade for seedlings (no direct sun)

  • Transplanting: Move to permanent location when 2-3 fronds appear

Palm Care Requirements:

  • Sunlight: Mature palms need partial shade (filtered sunlight ideal)

  • Watering: Keep soil constantly moist (mimics Amazon floodplains)

  • Fertilizer: Use palm-specific fertilizer high in manganese & magnesium

  • Pruning: Remove only dead fronds

 Growth Expectations

  • Time to First Fruit: 3-5 years (clumping variety)

  • Mature Size: 40-60 ft in wild; container-grown: 15-20 ft

  • Cold Tolerance: Minimum 50°F (10°C)

  • Yield: Mature clumps produce 2-3 harvests annually

Pollination Note:

  • Naturally cross-pollinated by wind and insects

  • Plant multiple palms for better fruit production

Cultural & Nutritional Significance

  • Sustainability – Grown in agroforestry systems

Berry Characteristics:

  • Harvest: Purple-black berries in large clusters

  • Flavor: Earthy, chocolate-berry notes

  • Uses: Traditional Amazonian staple, modern smoothie bowls

  • Requires high humidity and consistent warmth

  • Needs acidic soil conditions

  • Slow initial growth phase

Perfect for tropical food forests or as a stunning container specimen in warm climates!

Not squared shelves
Color: Rustic Wood
I thought these shelves would be squared but they are actually rounded at the corner making them a but awkward to hang especially if your walls aren't perfectly squared. They look pretty once hung but they are quite hard to hang if you go by the instructions. I would not buy these again.

Gets the job done, not sure for how long
Color: Rustic Wood
These were hard to assemble due to the screw needing to go behind a metal bar, meaning all of my shelves are wobbly and one is starting the cave in the corner some. Overall not too bad for the price (got it on sale, wouldn’t recommend paying full price. Also didn’t realize the wood was unfinished so it’s splintery (be careful, I got several splinters when assembling and putting up).

A great $30
Color: Grey, Color: Grey
The wood is cheap particle board (probably better bc they are very light weight) but the brackets are plenty strong and sturdy. Advice on the install: your walls may not be exactly 90 degrees. Install one bracket after the other is holding the shelf up. Super pretty.

Great shelves but be warned.
Color: Grey
These shelves are great for small items and can definitely hold up to their advertised weight if mounted in a stud. However, DO NOT use the longest screws at all. All the screws are low quality and are likely to break. The medium length ones are sufficient for everything. If your wall faces an exterior concrete wall: break off the tips on the dry wall anchors, they are too long.
