Epipremnum pinnatum variegata 'Marble'

Epipremnum pinnatum variegata 'Marble' has marbled green, cream and white leaves. The pattern is irregular, with cloudy patches, fine streaks and brighter pale areas appearing differently on each new leaf along the vine.

Its growth follows Epipremnum pinnatum, a tropical climbing species from humid forests across tropical and subtropical Asia to the Pacific. Indoors, 'Marble' can be kept as a trailing or pruned vine, while a vertical support lets aerial roots attach and can lead to broader leaves as the stem matures.

Marbled-leaf traits

  • Marbled green, cream and white leaves with variable patterning.
  • Climbing vine with aerial roots produced along the stem nodes.
  • Can be trained upward for larger leaves and stronger stem development.
  • Warmth, bright indirect light and open substrate help roots stay active and new leaves expand.

Marbled leaves and stem development

The marbled pattern on this Epipremnum can appear as fine streaking, cloudy patches or stronger pale sectors. Each leaf has its own balance of green and light tissue, so a lengthening vine produces a sequence of different leaves.

Growth comes from nodes along the stem. Each node can root, branch or produce a cutting, which makes this plant easy to shape over time. A pole or plank helps the aerial roots attach, and attached stems can produce broader leaves.

Care for marbled variegation

  • Light: Place in bright indirect light. Pale marbled sections are more sensitive to scorch, so direct midday sun should be filtered or avoided.
  • Watering: Let the upper 25–35% of the mix dry before watering again. Keep watering steadier during active growth and let the pot drain fully each time.
  • Substrate: Use a loose aroid mix with bark, coco chips, perlite or pumice. The roots need both moisture and air around them.
  • Humidity: Keep humidity moderate to high, ideally around 50–70%, so new leaves unfurl with fewer dry edges.
  • Temperature: Grow at 18–28 °C. Cold shelves, draughts and wet substrate slow root activity.
  • Support: Add a pole, plank or trellis while the plant is still flexible. Attach the stem close to the support so nodes can root into it.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth. Use a balanced fertiliser at reduced strength if the plant is producing smaller or paler leaves.
  • Pruning: Cut back fully green runs to a variegated node if needed. Keep cuttings with both a node and enough green tissue for stronger recovery.

Leaf marks and vine setbacks

  • Crisped pale patches: Check for direct sun, irregular watering or dry air while the leaf was expanding. Move to bright filtered light and keep the root ball more even.
  • Soft yellow leaves: Inspect the roots and lower stem. Wet compact substrate or standing water in a cover pot can damage the base.
  • Weak, stretched stems: Increase light gradually and guide the vine onto support. Long internodes reduce the density of the marbled foliage.
  • Loss of marbling on a stem: Prune to a node with visible mixed colour if one growth line turns fully green.
  • Marked new leaves: Check for thrips, mealybugs and mechanical damage around the rolled emerging leaf. Treat pests early before the next leaf opens.

Safety

Epipremnum pinnatum variegata 'Marble' is not pet-safe. Its tissues contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, tongue and digestive tract if chewed. Keep the plant, fallen leaves and fresh cuttings away from pets and small children.

Botanical name background

Epipremnum comes from Greek roots meaning “upon” and “trunk”, describing the genus’ climbing habit. Pinnatum means feathered or pinnate, linked to the divided adult leaves of Epipremnum pinnatum.

Long time Timex ironman digital owner. First analog watch I've owned in a long, long time. LOVE IT.

Long time Timex iron man digital owner. First analog watch I've owned in a long, long time. LOVE IT. I don't know I'd go swimming or kayaking with this -- might be fine -- but for "dry land" this is a great watch, good band, for a reasonable price. It's battery powered, but that's OK with me.

Disappointing
Color: Black/Black/Black
Overall the watch is ok. The price doesn't reflect the quality of the watch. This should be a $20.00 dollar watch. I purchased this partially because I thought the number would glow at night, they do not. The hour and minute hand barely glow at night. I decided to just keep it, rather than returning it, and now I wish I had just returned it. After 2 months, I got a scratch on the watch, what looks like cheap, plastic. I can't say I would recommend it for that reason, I'm a average field watch wearer, which means they have to be somewhat durable. This was disappointing.

Great watch to have
My husband has used this same watch for YEARS. He loves the basicness of it. It may not be the EXACT one, but pretty darn close. He loves the timex brand. He wears it everyday and is pretty hard on things. The only reason he needs to get a new one is because the bands break. For the money its a great deal.
