Mountain Hemlock (Tsuga mertensiana)

A  graceful, pyramidal blue-green conifer thriving in USDA Zones 4-8, needing full sun to part shade and moist, well-drained loam, sand, or rocky soils with a pH of 5.0-6.0.

Mountain Hemlock is slow-growing, drought-tolerant once established, and generally low-maintenance. It offers year-round beauty with minimal fuss, though it dislikes pollution, extreme heat, and heavy clay. Needs consistent moisture, especially when roots are being established. Water deeply,  allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings to prevent root rot.

Mountain hemlock native range extends from the southeastern tip of Alaska down the Pacific coast through British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. It has an inland population in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho and Montana. While it's found at sea level in the far north, it grows at higher altitudes in its southern range (Cascades, Sierras, Rockies and Klamath Mountains).

Mountain hemlock prefers cool, moist summers and long, cold winters. It generally does not perform well in the heat and humidity of the southeastern or Eastern United States.  If planted in warmer areas, plant in shade with only a few hours of AM sun. Height varies by location, from 15-30 ft tall in gardens to much larger in native habitats. Grows 8-15 ft wide.

The mountain hemlock's flexible trunk and branches allow it to withstand heavy snow loads. This also make it a great choice for bonsai.

Mountain Hemlock does not require heavy fertilization. A light balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring can be beneficial. Pruning also is generally minimal. If required, prune is in late winter or early spring. Do not prune old wood. Mountain Hemlock will not back-bud.

Needs a very well draining soil, especially in containers. We recommend our Dryland/High Elevation Conifer Potting Soil Mix.

Free Shipping to most locations. We cannot ship larger boxes or boxes to AK, HI, APO, US Territories, or areas considered remote, without a freight surcharge.

If your temperature is warmer than 89 degrees or colder than 20 degrees, we will hold order until temperature improves. Please put your desired ship date in Special Instructions to Seller at checkout.

MY CHIHUAHUA LOVES THESE BALLS!!
Color: Samll Set of 8
My little chihuahua, BamBam, is addicted to balls, especially little balls that squeak! However, any balls that have material on them, BamBam will tear them apart, swallow the material and then get an upset tummy! These balls saved the day! BamBam LOVES them & she cannot tear them apart! They hold up so well! No matter how much BamBam plays with them, they keep squeaking away!

Squeaky ball

Perfect squeaky ball. Dogs love them. I love that they're durable and their thickness aids their durability. My Great Dane will play alone for hours with a ball.

Colorful, Sturdy & Great Value
Color: Large Set of 4
Purchased for our two puppies when they were 2 months old and weighed about 14 pounds so theses balls were a little big for them to hold in their mouths but that didn't stop them from trying. While they did like these balls they much preferred softer soccer balls, the later of which did not hold up well at all. I had hoped they would play with these balls more when they were older but that hasn't happened 5 months later. I guess it's no fun if you can't tear the toy apart. Colors are very bright and they do enjoy chasing after them as long as I am the one rolling them across the room for them. Maybe when they progress to batting things with their paws they will start to do this for themselves.
