Philodendron Ruizii

A semi-succulent climbing species native to the eastern Andean slopes from southern Colombia through Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia, named for the 18th-century Spanish botanist Hipólito Ruiz López. It produces thick, elongated, strap-like leaves with a heavy, leathery to almost plastic-like texture that grow in a bird's-nest formation from the center of the plant, with dark maroon undersides. The semi-succulent constitution makes it notably more drought-tolerant and forgiving than most philodendrons. A natural climber that benefits from a moss pole to reach full height.

  • Light: Medium to bright indirect light with some gentle morning sun; avoid harsh direct sun which scorches the leaves. Tolerates lower light than many philodendrons.

  • Soil: Well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; the semi-succulent nature makes excellent drainage especially important. Never waterlogged.

  • Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-85°F, never below 55°F; tolerates average household humidity well thanks to its semi-succulent leaves, though 60%+ supports the best growth.

  • Watering: Allow the medium to dry out noticeably between waterings — the thick leaves and stems store water, making this far more tolerant of dry spells than most philodendrons. Err on the dry side; never waterlog.

  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly during active growth; reduce in winter.

Ok but not that great, pretty bland.
I love Bourbon creams - they are a huge favourite for many Brits as they are the English equivalent of Oreos. Totally unhealthy but unavoidably addictive. So I took a chance to satisfy my craving since I haven't been able to fly back to UK since the beginning of the pandemic. These however, were just lacking. Waitrose or M&S brand is far superior in taste. But they did arrive on time and were well packaged. Of course I eventually ate them all - hoping my taste buds were off ... but sadly, they didn't improve!
