Nerve Plant Fittonia is a compact, evergreen perennial with dark green, ovate leaves highlighted by delicate, intricate veins. These veins come in various colors such as silvery-white, pink, red, and green, and resemble the appearance of nerves, hence the name! These striking, network-like veins contrast against the dark green background of the foliage, giving the plant its distinct, eye-catching look.
Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, including Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil, this plant thrives in warm, humid environments. Nerve plant typically grows 3 to 6 inches tall with a trailing spread of up to 18 inches, making it perfect for indoor spaces and terrariums.
Nerve Plant can be cultivated outdoors as a creeping ground cover in frost-free climates, thriving in locations with filtered sunlight. Its trailing growth habit allows it to spread easily over garden beds. Ideal for planting under taller trees or in spots protected from direct, harsh sunlight, it brings a lush, green carpet with intricate veining that adds depth to outdoor spaces.
Indoors, Fittonia is not the easiest plant for beginners, as it requires consistent humidity and careful attention to watering. It is sensitive to dry conditions and may wilt quickly if neglected, though it can bounce back with proper care.
Although it rarely flowers indoors, it may produce small, inconspicuous reddish or yellowish-white blooms. Its non-toxic nature makes it safe for homes with pets. Overall, the Nerve Plant’s vivid vein patterns and compact growth make it a stunning addition to any indoor plant collection.
-
Nerve Plant thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low-light conditions. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the delicate leaves and cause the vibrant vein colors to fade.
This plant prefers warm temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and high humidity. It is sensitive to dry air and cooler temperatures, which can cause the leaves to wilt or drop.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the top layer of soil feels dry, and avoid letting it dry out completely, as this can lead to wilting.
Use a well-draining potting mix with good moisture retention. Fertilize with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season to promote healthy growth.
Nerve Plant is non-toxic to both humans and pets, making it a safe choice for households with animals or children.

Almost 2 years now! Super strong and the puppers loves it. NO SQUEAKER!!!! YAY
Nov 2022 marks 2 years it's now near Oct 2022 unless this thing completely falls apart in the next month it's gonna easily make 2 years. I honestly see this going 3-4 years. There is little damage still. Just a tear near the ear that isn't spreading and the tail is still showing the tiny amount of white. This thing is a beast!
Video is from almost Oct 2022.
1 year and 2 months on (last three pics are of it currently) and it's still holding up nearly perfectly. Bought this in Nov of 2020 Jan 2022 it's still around while all other toys are destroyed. This is completely worth every single penny.
6 month update: See pictures for the only damage to the toy so far. Note the tail is the place my girl tends to offer me to grab. She also gnaws on that area and the ears. The one ear has fur missing now. Eyes are still good to go as they are stitched rather than separate plastic eyes. However for 6 months of dog abuse, I'd say the toy is holding up quite well. I feel I'll get close to a year out of it maybe a bit more or less.
The pupper girl always destroys her toys. This one has lasted quite a while compared to the others. I don't see this falling apart for a while. I believe we may get a year or more out of it. Well worth the price!

not for aggresive chewers
This premium priced toy did not last 15 minutes with my 14 month old 34 poundf Labradoodle. I had great expectations based on the description but the very cute squirrel toy did not last, First hole was through one of the eyes and the internal stuffing was then spread everywhere.

Perfect for a hound puppy
I have a difficult time finding plush toys that won’t immediately fall apart AND doesn’t have any secret squeakers. It’s bigger than I expected, his long hound mouth can barely fit the body inside - and it is very thick that it satiates the bite and catch component. He absolutely loves it, he will bounce it, chase after it and then pass out for a nap once he is done. He knows the toy by name and brings a lot of joy.. Highly recommend.

Cute, soft, quiet and durable
This stuffy is HUGE! I was expecting it to be half this size. We're happy to have a stuffy that does *NOT* have a squeaker. We're finding it to be very sturdy. My 4 month old puppy is a terrier mix and she loves to attack and shake stuffies and you can't tell this thing has been abused at all. Looks the same a 2 weeks later as it did new. It's one of her favorites and we love it because its quiet. Should last a long time.
This is an update 4 months after purchase. The red squirrel continues to be a favorite with my puppy. With other plush toys, she tears them apart in 10 minutes. This one, somehow, has lasted months. Over time, she has pulled off the tail, the ears, and two of the legs, but the body is still intact. Amazing!

My dog freakin’ LOVES this
Favorite toy of my dog. He’s a heavy chewer - and yes, he’s chewed the tail off and one of the ears - but he carries it around all the time - plays with it all the time - even sleeps with it. And it has held up for months. I’m getting another one just to have as a backup as I don’t think he can live without it. Also love that the eyes are embroidered and not plastic so he won’t accidentally swallow them. Best toy ever.
