Tillandsia Pruinosa, also known as the Fuzzy-Wuzzy Air Plant due to its prominent trichomes. This species is native to northern South America, Central America, southern Mexico, the West Indies and Florida. Tillandsia Pruinosa's leaves range in colour from vibrant green, to dark eggplant purple, to grey-green. The leaves grow wildly in all direction, stemming from a bulbous base that tends to be brown in colour.
Fun Fact
"Pruinosa" comes from the Latin words for "frosty", referring to this species appearance. When in bloom, Tillandsia Pruinosa puts out an equally fuzzy-looking flowering bract that can be yellow to vibrant pink in colour. Its flowers are violet in colour. Care Tips:
- Provide plenty of indirect or dappled sunlight to help this plant stay colourful and to help encourage blooming.
- For watering, use rain, distilled, or tap water that has been left out to dechlorinate for 24 hours first
- Soak once a week for 30 mins to an hour. Mist occasionally in between soaks using a Mister Spray Bottle. Adjust this schedule as needed according to how dry or humid your space is.
- Place upside-down someplace with good air circulation to allow the plant to dry after watering.
