Good for beginners? Yes. Chinese Evergreen is one of the best beginner plants available. It tolerates low light, inconsistent watering, and most home conditions with minimal drama.
Safe for cats and dogs? Chinese Evergreen is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
Light needs: Medium to bright indirect light keeps the pink tones most vivid. It tolerates lower light better than most pink-leafed plants but the color intensity reduces. Avoid direct sun which can bleach the vibrant pink.
Care at a glance: Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them glossy and vibrant. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
