Alluaudia procera
Common Name: Madagascar Ocotillo

Alluaudia procera, known as the Madagascar Ocotillo, is a tall, upright succulent tree native to the spiny forests of southern Madagascar. With its spiny, segmented stems and small, rounded green leaves that line the branches in perfect symmetry, this unusual plant adds an exotic, architectural flair to any collection.

In cultivation, it grows as a leafy column, often compared to a hybrid of cactus and tree. The deciduous leaves emerge during the warm growing season and may drop during cooler months or dry spells, making it both drought-tolerant and visually dynamic.

☀ Light Requirements
Prefers full sun to very bright light. Outdoors, give it as much direct sun as possible. Indoors, a bright south-facing window or grow light setup is essential for healthy growth and leaf production.

💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply but only when the soil is bone dry. This plant stores water in its thick stems and thrives on neglect during its dormant season. Reduce watering in winter when it may lose its leaves.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Frost-sensitive—best kept above 50°F. Protect from cold drafts and freezing temps. Add a [Heat Pack] when shipping during colder months.

✨ Special Features
Tall & Architectural – Upright growth makes a bold statement
Spiny, Leafy Stems – A wild combo of soft green and armored structure
Rare & Exotic – A true collector’s plant with origins in Madagascar

Other Common Names:
Madagascar Ocotillo, African Ocotillo, Spiny Tree Succulent

Of course, if you receive a plant that you are dissatisfied with please reach out to us. We want to make it right!

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.

Cute toy that definitely entertains the pups.
These are adorable toys. They make a bit more noise than I expected as they have the crackly ‘stuff’ in the legs. My mastiff made it a whole day without destroying it. This is the first toy that’s survived him for more than 10 minutes, so that’s an endorsement even if it sounds bad. They are a great price for the size. If I were to say I have a wish for them, it’s that the material that makes up their belly was more durable.

Durability Not So Good
The size is great and having squeakers in all tentacles is super for the puppy but had to sew a seam withing one week of having it. Hoping the rest stays together.

Long lasting and fun
This toy has lasted longer than other octopus toys I've bought in the past. Even if a leg or two is ripped off, it still holds on.

Awesome product, but NOT sturdy
My dog LOVED this product, but unfortunately the head came off in less than a week.

Glad this toy is back
Large soft dog toy. I have been trying to buy this item for years. It apparently was discontinued, but it finally has been replaced with an even better, more durable product. I have two large chocolate labs and they have yet to gut it. It is reasonable durable, but I suppose a determined dog could eventually rip into it. I will definitely again. Large grunting noise maker in the body, and small squeakers in the arms.
