Philodendron 'White Wizard'

Philodendron 'White Wizard' is a green-and-white variegated Philodendron with fresh white sections on the leaves and green to white-marked stems. The pale stems keep the plant’s overall colour clean and bright, matching the fresh white sections on the leaves.

The plant grows from a climbing stem with aerial roots. Young plants can appear compact while the stem is short, then develop a longer vine that benefits from support.

  • Variegation: White leaf sectors, splashes and marbling on green leaves, with each leaf forming a different pattern.
  • Stem markings: Green to white stems with a clean pale appearance.
  • Growth habit: Climbing Philodendron with aerial roots that can attach to a pole or board.
  • Leaf pattern: New leaves may show clean white sectors, smaller splashes or a mix of both.

Green-white stems and maturing aerial roots

Philodendron 'White Wizard' is part of the white-variegated climbing Philodendron group in cultivation. Warm conditions, filtered light and an open root zone help the climbing stem and aerial roots develop steadily.

As the stem lengthens, aerial roots can be guided toward support. The green-to-white stem colouring remains visible as the plant grows.

Care for Philodendron 'White Wizard'

  • Light: Place in bright indirect light. White sections can scorch in direct midday sun.
  • Support: Add a pole, plank or trellis before the stem becomes heavy and harder to guide.
  • Watering: Water deeply, then wait until the upper substrate has dried. Constantly wet substrate can damage the roots.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky, breathable aroid mix with bark, perlite, pumice or coco chips to keep air around the roots.
  • Humidity: Stable moderate humidity supports clean unfurling; airflow helps prevent marks on soft new tissue.
  • Temperature: Keep it in a warm range, around 18–28 °C, and protect it from cold windows or floors.
  • Feeding: Apply diluted balanced fertiliser during active growth. Reduce feeding when the plant slows in cooler, darker months.

White-sector leaf problems and stem checks

  • Brown white sectors: Check light, watering gaps and airflow. Pale tissue usually shows stress first.
  • Soft yellow leaves: Check root moisture and pot size. Dense substrate or an oversized pot can keep roots wet for too long.
  • Long gaps between leaves: Check light and support. Growth usually stays tighter in bright filtered light.
  • Nearly white new leaves: If the plant keeps producing leaves with too little green, cut back to a node with stronger variegation balance.
  • Distorted new growth: Inspect the newest leaves and cataphylls for thrips or mites, then isolate before treating.

Philodendron 'White Wizard' can be propagated from stem cuttings, but each cutting needs a healthy node and enough balanced variegation to support new growth. Very pale cuttings are slower and less reliable.

Handling and pet safety

Philodendron 'White Wizard' contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If eaten, it can irritate the mouth, tongue and throat. Keep the plant away from pets and dispose of pruned pieces safely.

Etymology and botanical background

Philodendron is an aroid genus in Araceae. The name comes from Greek roots meaning “loving” and “tree”, reflecting the climbing behaviour common in the genus. Philodendron 'White Wizard' has green-and-white stem colouring, fresh white leaf sectors and a climbing stem with aerial roots.

Philodendron 'White Wizard' has pale green-to-white stems, fresh white leaf sectors and a climbing growth habit.

Too tight at opening
Size: 13 Little Kid, Color: Light Pink
I bought a size larger for my child, and the foot won’t go in. Her other sketchers slides are great. But I do not recommend this model.

Works with USB-C ethernet adapter and Sidecar to iPad Pro.
I figured I'd be hosed trying to find a USB-C hub with 4 USB-C ports and have it work with what I need. Well, this hub does the trick and is nowhere near the cost of higher end hubs that fail to deliver. I've used the OWC Thunderbolt hub and it works great, only it is too big and bulky to carry all the time. I needed a way to expand the lame two USB-C ports on my M1 Macbook Pro and maintain some (most) of the functionality the OWC hub gives me. My priorities were: 1. Extra USB-C ports. 2. Ability to Sidecar to my iPad using USB and not wireless. 3. Work with a USB-C to ethernet adapter. 4. Keep costs below $75. This hub gave me all of that and, including the cost of the ethernet adapter, I got what I wanted for less than fifty bucks. Yeah, it might not be the fastest transferring files, its unable to passthrough charge, and you can't connect a monitor to it (well, you can but it won't work). It suits my needs though and as a bonus it charges my iPad while I'm using it as a second screen. Now I have a lot less clutter at work and four pounds less weight to drag around with no loss of functionality. I'd call this great bang for my bucks.

Arrived on time, in good condition, functioning as advertised.
Style: Data Transfer (10Gbps)
This was one of only three or four 4-port USB-C hubs I was able to find. The others IIRC were made by Acer, Belkin, and Rosewill. Of the four, only this one and the Belkin also had power-delivery capabilities, and this one was slightly cheaper. The cable is a little short, only about 17cm. This can be good or bad depending on your use case. Personally, I think it's adequate, as it's plugged into my monitor, so not having a bunch of extra cable to tie up is a good thing, although it's a little odd to have it partially hanging rather than sitting flat on my desk. Again, not a bad thing, because it's quite light, so nothing is being stressed. However, people who want to plug it into a port on the rear of a tower will most likely need to purchase a USB-C male-to-female cable extension, keeping in mind that to use this hub to it's full capability, you would need a USB4 certified extension rated for 40gbps data & 100w power delivery. Overall, I am pleased. I will most likely use this for a very long time, at least until USB-C completely replaces USB-A.
