Why Grow Chackbay Cowpea?

A Louisiana Heirloom The Chackbay Cowpea is an heirloom field pea variety from southern Louisiana. Named after the city in Louisiana, this southern pea variety is delicious and productive! The pods develop on the top of the plants, making them easy to see and easy to pick.

Low-Maintenance Plants Chackbay Cowpea is a drought-tolerant cowpea variety that doesn't need much water or fertile soil to thrive. The pea pods will be green initially as they develop on the plants. As the pods fill and the peas mature, the pods will turn a pale yellow color with hints of purple.

Chackbay Cowpea Growing Tips

• When to Plant Cowpeas

Cowpeas are a "warm season" vegetable that thrive in hot and even dry conditions. They should planted once temperatures sufficiently warm in the mid to late spring months. In southern climates, you can also plant them in late August or early September for a fall crop of cowpeas.

Cowpeas should be directly sewn in the garden at a planting depth of approximately 1/2" deep. Cowpeas can be planted very thick. Place seeds 2-3" apart along the row or bed you're planting. Cowpeas also grow great when planted on double rows, maximizing space in your backyard garden.

• How to Fertilize Cowpeas

Because they are a legume, cowpeas will "fix" their own nitrogen as they grow. This complex process involves the plants capturing atmospheric nitrogen and essentially adding it to the soil. As a result, cowpeas don't require much fertilization.

When growing them in very poor soil, it's not a bad idea to apply some pre-plant fertilizer to the soil. Sprinkle a little Coop Gro organic fertilizer along the planting furrow prior to planting. Besides that, cowpeas shouldn't need any additional fertilization as they grow.

• Harvesting Cowpeas

Cowpeas can be harvested at the fresh or dried stage. To harvest fresh pods, wait until the pods are completely filled with peas. The pods on many cowpea varieties will start to turn a different color as the peas inside the pods are enlarging and maturing. This is usually a great sign that fresh peas are ready to harvest.

You can also allow the pods to dry completely on the plant if you're wanting dried peas that will store without having to freeze them. Dried pods are also great for seed saving so you can plant a particular cowpea variety again next year.

Good Quality Filter - Fit 2018 Honda CRV
Fit my 2018 Honda CRV-EX 1.5 Liter Turbo engine perfectly and it is a good quality air filter. Loosen the 4 cover screws and slip it right in place, make note of the small tab on the side of the filter and line it up so the cover goes back down correctly making a tight seal. TIP - when you loosen the screws with a Phillips head screw driver they wont pull out and there is no chance of losing them or falling out. Took about 5 minutes to replace.

Perfect fit. Pls read. Tricky cover removal and cover reinstall..
Perfect fit for 2024 CRV Hybrid Touring. But read if you are DIYing. Its easy but not so easy. Saw a couple of DIY YT videos. Removing the cover is a b*t*h. Use 6mm socket instead of a screw driver. Using socket is very important and a safe bet. The screws are deep and will need several turns to fully unscrew. A magnetic socket is recommended. Don't lose the screw and the 2 washers along with it. Removing the cover is tricky but not hard. Remember, no force is needed anytime during. It slides off of the rubber gasket when you lift a bit and pull it to the right. Once released you need to get it up, out and over that narrow space (the tricky part) to reach the filter. Replace the filter correctly as it has orientation. Putting the cover back is even trickier because the gap is narrower than the cover. Use your brain not force like a puzzle. Once back into the very narrow gap it slides back on the rubber ring/gasket effortlessly. Just double check the alignment before screwing. Absolutely hand turn the screws a good few turns to make sure you are NOT cross threading them before powering (avoid) it. ONLY HAND TIGHTEN SNUG. NO TORQUE NEEDED. I don't like the placement of this engine air filter chamber. Its far back and in a very tight space. Since this is going to be a frequently changed part it should have been more conveniently placed. Not happy with Honda design on this.

Perfect fit 2023 Honda accord hybrid touring
This was the 2nd air filter I purchased of a different brand, the first 1 claimed to fit my 2023 Honda accord but it was too small. This one fit exactly to the spec and it was easy to install myself.
